Anyone think this might be overpaying him. I'm guessing it's incentive heavy??

I don't really understand this. Clayton was dropping passes. Not sure what Gruden had to do with this? The guy would routinely turn his head, and run before he would secure the ball. The one thing Gruden may have done was suggest he wanted Clayton bigger. He wanted him at the weight T.O. was playing at, and it ended up slowing down Clayton his 2nd season. He slimmed down again last season to the weight he was drafted at, and got open more. He should have actually had quite a few more TD's last season, but Garcia never saw him. However, even in the last game against Oakland he had a great game, but dropped a crucial 3rd down pas in the 4th quarter. He did get open more, so if he can stop dropping passes he should do better. I just don't understand what Gruden had to do with this.they must agree with me,(well, ya know) that Gruden hinderred his development and he can still be a real good WR

Pretty sure Grunden wasn't screaming "jinx" in Clayton's ear as he dropped all those passes. I can't believe the Bucs thought he was an asset to keep at the price they are paying him. I can't believe he was still on the team last year. Let's hope McCown/any other QB they bring in will see him and will now be able to actually catch the ball.Clayton needs a QB with a strong arm. Someone who can throw the ball hard enough to get it stuck in his face mask, so that he can't drop it.I don't really understand this. Clayton was dropping passes. I guess they are paying him to block.Clayton must have a heck of an agent to get him that much money. Does this move him up on anybody's fantasy ranking? He wasn't even on my list of 70 some WR's. Now I've got him on there at #54. If they're going to pay him that much money they must be going to use him more. Right?
In general I just don't think Gruden is very good with young players but is exceptional with older ones. I know plenty of Bucs fans would just call them failed draft picks but, ..well I disagreeOsaurus said:QUEZILLA said:I don't really understand this. Clayton was dropping passes. I still can't get past his first season: 80-1193-7. Rookies don't just back into seasons like that without some talent. Throw in the fact that Clayton's demise occurred at exactly the same time as Galloway's resurgence and you cannot completely dismiss that theory. In general I just don't think Gruden is very good with young players but is exceptional with older ones.
