***Cleveland at Pittsburgh*** (-2.5) O/U 42.5 Big Ben Bowl and perhaps last home game in a Steelers uniform (1 Viewer)

Greetings Shark Pool, Happy New Year!

-Gonna be on the road pretty much thru next Sunday, if some friends like @Insein or @rockaction wouldn't mind launching the game threads next weekend, the Ministry would be grateful.

-Big Ben playing his final home game, I think Cleveland is the better overall team and could run the ball a lot tonight and not even have to pass much but there might be some energy int he building tonight, likely a close low scoring affair.

Pittsburgh 20...Cleveland 17

Go!

When Cleveland was still alive for the playoffs, I had them with a stone cold win tonight. Now I'm not sure. That sudden realization that your season is over might cause them to let down. Pitt still has something to play for All be it a very slim chance. I do think they play hard tonight for Ben and go out with a win.

Pitt 21

Cle 17

yeah, i'll probably watch the game, but i kinda don't care now that the Browns are eliminated from the playoffs.

Stefanski doesn't really strike me as the "get the troops riled up" type, so i could definitely see the Browns playing a little flat.

I guess the Browns could have motivation to knock the Steelers out of playoffs but the odds are so remote that it is pretty much foregone conclusion the Steelers won't be in the postseason.   Rather the Browns will be plenty motivated to win to post a winning record.

The Steelers are aware of their remote chance of the playoffs.  This game will be all about trying to post a final victory for Ben at Heinz field.

I think the Browns win this game if they keep the ball on the ground.   If they have Baker throw 30-40 times then they'll probably lose.

I am going with a couple of brother-in-laws that are Browns fans.   I guess it will be fun but would have been a lot more interesting if both teams had one more win.

9m#Steelers now 2.5 point favorites tonight vs #Browns on @tipico

Sportsbook. Had been 2-3.5 pt underdogs all week leading into the game. Heavy money on the PIT side and/or Cleveland getting eliminated from the playoffs + the "Ben last home game factor" likely caused the shift

Big Ben Tribute...I remember when he first arrived in the NFL, my first impression was oh my gawd they got Conan the Barbarian at QB. Ben was so big and so strong and he looked like a Lineman at times just slinging DBs off him trying to make a sack or tackle, he could stand in the pocket forever.

And I want to say that I have never seen a tougher SOB at QB, Ben played in some of the hardest fought, heaviest hitters of the last 2 decades in the NFL. Those Playoff games vs Baltimore and Cinci and they were cold and dark and scary but he was there and many times he was on the winning side.

The last couple seasons or perhaps a bit longer have been painful for Pittsburgh and the fan base. I choose to remember Ben in his prime, some things off the field I don't forgive however I will say that ever since he landed in Goodell's doghouse and as far as what I have read, Ben did everything the NFL asked of him, he humbled himself within the Steelers' organization and to some degree I think he may have lost a bit of his early mojo let's say but all in all he's been a Hall of Fame QB that likely will go in 1st Ballot into Canton and rightfully so.

Pittsburgh, you been a Class-A organization as long as I can remember and I humbly tip my cap to all of you for putting a solid product on the field, running your front office with absolute class, and it might seem a little foggy right now with no clear vision at QB in 2022 but trust me you have the Coach that players want to team up with. We know there are QBs ready to make the jump so please don't be surprised if you are the next big city to get rented for 3-5 years by an established QB eager to work with Tomlin and your Front Office.

It's a team sport and it takes a lot of folks all working together with one goal to achieve the things you all have managed to achieve. There's no reason to hang your heads tonight, celebrate and help Ben ride off with nothing but smiles, you all will find success again and it won't take long, it rarely does for you all. That's why your the Pittsburgh Steelers

Cheers!

Steelers want to send Ben off at home with a win. Browns eliminated from playoff contention. Won't overthink it.I'll take.....

Steelers- 27

Browns- 17

Didn't realize Jacksonville has to beat indy for Steelers to even get in. Oh well, still would like to see monster game for Ben even if they aren't going to playoffs.

Peyton and Eli are on ESPN2, for those like me who thought they were shutdown for the season.

Cowher has been excellent in the first qtr.  Goodell, Snoop, and Aaron Rodgers are in the queue.

I’ve never seen this before, but the brothers Manning are way better than Brian Griese imo.

I just got back so I missed Cowher. Anything interesting?

OK, I switched over to ESPN2 to catch the Manning commentary.  My 60-second impression is it's a disappointment. 👎

Is Mayfield regressing because of injury or is he just not good.  I never thought he would be a star but I thought he would be above average.

Injuries can't be helping but I don't think the ceiling was very high.

There can’t be a QB playing worse than he is right now.  Maybe Sean Mannion?

Painful to watch.  But at least the Browns should not longer be duped into giving him $35MM per year.  Not even $20MM.  Just move on.

At least the Chargers vs Raiders game is better than flexing a 5 win team and a 4 win team in primetime.

I think his facemask is fogging up.

…but seriously, he’s developed some bad habits. Mostly regression.

the way his passes have been floating high and away, wondering if Baker was trying to hit Njoku underneath and it floated into tight coverage

I stand corrected.  Mayfield five minutes later is playing worse than Mayfield five minutes prior.

did Berry tell Stefanski to play injured Mayfield all year?   this makes no sense.

why are they paying Keenum?

He is not that good.  I am sure whatever injuries he has are not helping, as if almost all NFL players aren't dealing with something right now, but he just makes too many bad decisions.
