Coaching Changes in NFL for 2009? (1 Viewer)

Going thru the teams, here are the coaches that could or should be canned.....

Cincinnati...bye bye messy marvin...

Cleveland... already rumored that Romeo's out

Houston... living in the shadows of Shanny, he's done nothing to improve the team

Jacksonville.... Del Rio might have lost the team with his methods

Oakland.... a given but who the heck would want this job?

San Diego... Turner should remain as an OC and an OC ONLY

Dallas... another HC who should remain as a coordinator...Jones wants to pro

Philly....can you say burn out city? He seems to have lost the confidence of his players

Detroit....another given

Minnesota....please, please....PLEASE

I'd love to see my Vikings can this $%#&*$ and bring in Sarkisian, the OC and QB coach from USC.

Caroliina....might be safe with the current record but a quick exit in the playoffs might do it for Fox.

San Fran.. Mike isn't ready

Seattle.....exit this Mike, and enter Mora

St Louis.... Haslett isn't the answer, enter a college coach most likely.

Seems to me that, that is 8-9-maybe TEN (if not more) new coaches in next season.

All I know is that if Marvin Lewis lasted this long at Cincy...

Del Rio still has another year or so in Jacksonville.

Clark Hunt has been hard to read, but one has to think (hope) that KC's entire staff (other than maybe Chan Gailey who's actually done a nice job) will get chitcanned.

KC had something like 11-15 drafted rookies make the team. They knew what they were in for. And I think Edwards is a HORRENDOUS coach but I dont think he gets fired.

Fox's status depends on whether they think they can bring in Cowher

I don't think the Panthers will make the playoffs. If they do they'll be one and done. They certainly aren't as good as their record... lately they look to me like the worst team in their division.

Singletary will have to go, that team has gotten no better at all, the pants thing was an embarrassment, and poor coaching decisions have been glaring, especially in the red zone. Then again, the 49ers org is Detroit bad, so who knows what they'll do.

Kubiak is safe, expect to see Richard Smith get whacked in the off season and then if nothing changes then it is on Kubes

no way is Kubiak gone, that's crazy he's the only coach to bring them respectability despite the backslide this year. and I have this sinking feeling Crennel isn't going anywhere either.

Houston... living in the shadows of Shanny, he's done nothing to improve the team
That's not a very accurate statement. This team is light years ahead of where they were before Kubiak was hired. They didn't have NFL caliber starters at most of the starting positions before he arrived. There are still some holes, but they finally have starters who can match up with other teams and in a few cases have some top level talent at their positions.Guys like Mario Williams, Demeco Ryans, Owen Daniels, Eric Winston, Zach Diles, and Jacoby Jones at punt return have been a tremendous improvement to the talent level of the team. They've gotten some great production from low priced free agents like Kevin Walter, Andre Davis, Will Demps, Eugene Wilson, and Sage Rosenfels, plus some decent trades so far in Schaub and Chris Meyers. I'm not saying Kubiak doesn't deserve criticism, because he does. But saying he's done nothing to improve the team is way off base. Before the Texans didn't have the personnel to be able to compete. They've got the personnel now, but are making too many bone-headed mistakes. If there's a criticism for Kubiak it would be that I think he makes too many coaching mistakes. Poor time management, players who aren't prepared for fake punts and who don't know to just go to the ground when you make that game clinching interception, who don't protect the ball, coaches who don't call timeouts when seeing a bad mismatch on the field, etc. If Kubiak did get fired, and I don't think he will but it is conceivable he could if there is a good candidate willing to come in, it won't be because he didn't improve the team. It'll be because he isn't getting his players as prepared as they should be.

Latest rumor flying around here is...

Holgrem retires and takes a FO postion with SF. President/GM whatever. Hires Andy Reid as head coach. Philly only allows this pending deal with Cowher

Now that's a rumor

:hey: Same can be said about Edwards IMO. I don't understand how he's considered a good coach and how he still has a job. What was the compensation to get him again? A 3rd rounder?

Edwards for a 4th rounder (Leon Washington). What a steal!

This all seems very logical, but the part of Cowher coming to Philly to coach. You get the feeling he might be enjoying his tmie away from the game a lot, TV surely is paying the bills. Everytime I have seen him interviewed in the past he seems down to earth and someone who has to feed his ego.
