Agreed. Paradise will sound cool with those big harmonies, as will Viva la Vida.I like Coldplay. They have some fairy orchestral songs that might be great on the SB stage.
It's weird when people all don't like the same things.I don't understand why anyone would like their music.
I don't understand why anyone wouldn't.I don't understand why anyone would like their music.
No they don't. Not even close. They suck but it'll be a good time for me to go take a piss and get more snacks
Dull boring band...in the U2/Arcade Fire tier of bands that just suck. No real redeeming qualities. I guess they're ok for playing at a doctors office or something where you want people to know there's music on but not really pay any attention to itNo they don't. Their music is less exciting than Enya.I don't understand why anyone wouldn't.I don't understand why anyone would like their music.

(U2 did get much worse than their best, but none of those bands "suck")
You certainly have a right to be wrong about your opinion and you're exercising that right so kudos to you.Dull boring band...in the U2/Arcade Fire tier of bands that just suck. Maybe 3/4 of people in Minnesota. But in the settled, modern world most people are aware of a band as big as Coldplay, whether they like them or not.For a 50th I would have thought a band which appeals to more people would have been selected. Coldplay is more of a niche band. 3/4 of the people watching will not even know who they are.
Nope Coldplay is a band that people 20-45 may know. About 25% of the overall viewing audience.Maybe 3/4 of people in Minnesota. Yep - one the biggest bands on the planet.Maybe 3/4 of people in Minnesota. Being known by 25% is not a bad thing. I am 53 and know who Coldplay is. But if I ask 100 other people over 45, maybe 5 would even have heard of them. It's not a knock on them, it's just reality. I also didn't say it was a bad choice. Most of the halftime shows have not lived up to expectations. The best in my opinion have been Prince and Bruno Mars.Yep - one the biggest bands on the planet.Maybe 3/4 of people in Minnesota. Even if you're correct about the 20-45 age bracket (you aren't), didn't you just name the largest group of people that will be watching? The group of people that the majority of the advertising during the SB is geared towards?Nope Coldplay is a band that people 20-45 may know. I think you're severely underestimating how popular Coldplay is and/or how long they've been around. A LOT of 45+ year old folk have at least heard of them.Being known by 25% is not a bad thing. You think a lot of folk who were in their 20's and 30's when Coldplay was becoming huge wouldn't have at least been aware of the band?Been around about 20 yearsI think you're severely underestimating how popular Coldplay is and/or how long they've been around. I don't think I am underestimating them. To put it in perspective, I also think AC/DC would be around 50%. And I would put Journey around the same 25% as ColdplayBeen around about 20 yearsI think you're severely underestimating how popular Coldplay is and/or how long they've been around. Silly to quibble over who the Super Bowl act is, but Journey would be north of 75% recognition.I don't think I am underestimating them. We're talking about people in the United States, right?I don't think I am underestimating them. To put it in perspective, I also think AC/DC would be around 50%. This. Coldplay are the vanilla ice cream of "rock". If they wanted a decent band of this style they should have at least gone with muse, who are 10x the band and 20x the show. Instead we will get chris droning on with his Xanax-rock for soccer moms and dad-jeans guys who still think their taste in music is "hip".Incredibly boring and safe selection. I despise it but I understand
