College QB Shedeur Sanders, Colorado (1 Viewer)

Dude took 6 sacks and threw a pick in a loss. QB1? Yikes.
Yikes? Didn’t he also go 34-40 while losing two (or three even?) of his wideouts, including Hunter?
I guess it’s pretty common to make excuses for QB failures nowadays. Guys that take bad sacks and turn it over don’t make it in the NFL. Look at his two losses this year.

Sounds like another player fantasy owners are going to love and defend that NFL coaches can’t wait to get rid of.

Pick in the red zone. Had the ball with two minutes and a chance to win/tie. Moved it 5 yards?
I’m not saying he doesn’t have some stuff to clean up (and the drama that is sure to follow him is an obvious negative). Just saying I don’t think his performance yesterday was a “yikes” as far as QB1 talk goes. Who do you think QB1 is?
Fair point. I don’t expect him to be the first QB taken, and I have no clue who it will be.

Is it between Sanders and Ward?
Ewers.
Meh. He isn’t even the best QB on his team

Eww…

Give me Cam or Sanders. Want nothing to do with Eww or Beck. I’m not a scout and probably am wrong, but that’s what my eyes tell me from watching all of them.

I don't watch much college: Finally watched a cut up of Shedeur Sanders..
Still waiting for All-22 on all these QBs to tell the full story, but broadcast gives me a clear read on physical traits.
Arm talent wise, I don't think Ward, Nuss any of these guys come close, really.

I respect/appreciate diff aspects of Ward/Nuss' arm talent, but what Sanders brings is what I value most: An effortless release. Compact delivery. Ball gets out fast.
That makes ALL the difference in the NFL. See: Jayden Daniels.
Ward/Nuss/Sanders can all change arm slots/trajectories/pace.

Shedeur Sanders vs. Utah 🎯

What a calm, commanding feel Shedeur Sanders has for playing the hardest position to play in sports. Remember, Utah has one of the country's best defenses.
Utah is not good. They are on a 6 game losing streak, 1-6 in conference play and their only win is against 0-7 (conference) Ok St.

My biggest concern with Sanders is the same I have with Ward. They don't have to run the Big 10 or SEC gauntlet, so of course they're going to look much better against lesser defenses.

I don’t see the franchises at the top of the draft caring what Deion wants, especially the one in NY.
If “they” say they don’t want to go to an NY team why would that team want him? Trade the pick or draft someone else that wants to be there.
Because they need a QB, he may be the best one, and NFL owners don't want to keep opening the window for draft picks to dictate where they play. This isn't the NBA.

I get that of course, but I don't understand why an employer would want to hold any employee hostage. He's not going to be happy there. I feel like this is factored in behind the scenes a lot more than we think it is.

He'll be a Raider. I am almost certain.
I have resigned myself to this to the point that I am now actively rooting for it.
I have extremely mixed feelings about Sanders. On the field there's a lot to like. However he seems pretty limited physically i.e. not elite athleticism nor rocket arm, so I have seen people call him a poor-mans Burrow.

Off the field I hate a ton about him and his father, but that's for another time.

Any player who lobbies against being drafted by/refuses to play for the team that drafts them is immediately my least favorite player (hello Eli, Elway). Screw these entitled babies.
I get that, but don’t really blame a player for lobbying to work for a place they want, for management they respect.
Who hasn’t chosen a workplace at least partly for these reasons including city?
But yeah, these are adults getting paid millions to play a game so there’s not much empathy.

Exactly. Trade the pick.
I don’t want him in Nashville if he doesn’t want to be here.

Would you want to be forced to go work somewhere you didn't want to be?

Don't get me wrong, I love the NFL draft, but it is a neat thought conceptually to give every team $X amount of salary cap dollars based on how they finish the season to pay incoming college players instead of slotting teams and drafting them. Basically make them free agents, but give the bad teams more cash to give to them.

Anyone who supports a system where a qualified employee doesn't have any say in the choice of their future employer is immediately my... well I still like you but it's a very bad take.

If you want to have a competitive league, I don't see any other way. Not that it has worked for the Browns.

I just posted an alternative in my previous reply.

I like competition but I wouldn't support a draft system in any other industry so I don't see how I can here. Burn it down and let the chips fall where they may IMO.

Yeah that would be interesting to make them all free agents. The salary cap would still be in place, so it's not like several deep pocket teams could sign everyone.
