College TE Tyler Warren, Penn State (1 Viewer)

Dane Brugler
When Tyler Warren enrolled at PSU, he joined a TE room that had four future draft picks (Freiermuth, Strange, Kuntz, Johnson).

And Warren is going to be the highest-drafted of the group. Reminds me a lot of Tyler Eifert as a prospect.

Really impressed with this kid last night...thought he looked very athletic...I think it may because he wears #44 which is kind of a fullback # but he didn't look 6' 6" last night.

It's Warren and Loveland for me. Not a deep TE class IMO.
I have Fannin number one - followed by Warren and Loveland.
Maybe Warren for a late 1st round pick in dynasty drafts, only because it's not a deep WR class either and the QBs are crap. This is a deep RB class, so if one isn't available toward the end of the first round in your dynasty draft, then maybe Warren. If your league has a ridiculous TE premium, then maybe a TE in the 1.06 / 1.07 range. There isn't a Brock Bowers in this class. I doubt any of the very few top end WRs will be there at the end of your first round, so going with a top end TE, which are few, might be in play.

I just did mock for my SF/TE premium/IDP league
Warren went 4
Loveland went 6
Fannin went 13
Taylor went 25
Helm went 31

Tell me more about Fannin...I have not seen him play this year...his stats this year are impressive...I see him listed at 230...will that be an issue?
I think Fannin needs to be paired with a creative coach. He's not a prototypical TE. He's basically a large WR.

Warren to the 49ers, confirmed.
That would suck because of Kittle.start both like Gronk and the murderer in New England.

No way the 49ers take him...but fun to think it with my son at Penn State and me a 49ers fan.
I see you misquoted me by adding text to my post on your reply. That's OK though.....ths time ;)
Oops...

"That would suck because of Kittle."

Start both like Gronk and the murderer in New England.

I'm not sure how I did that, but it wasn't intentional. Better? lol

I'm a PSU fan and they played Bowling Green this year. Fannin had the best game of any opposing player all year. The one thing I remember is him being very tough to tackle, which after PSU's performance vs Jeanty is really saying something. He was a problem.

Bowling Green was winning at halftime largely because of Fannin. He and Warren are both great players but very different playstyles. I'm hoping Fannin goes under the radar a bit so I can scoop him late in dynasty.

He won’t, he’s too good.

Do you think he will be more productive than Kyle Pitts?

WHAT? Kyle Pitts is the greatest TE EVER!!! I know this because everyone told me this when he was drafted. I traded him straight up in a 14 team PPR DEVY league for TreyVeon Henderson in November of 2023. Not sure how that will turn out, but I don't feel bad about it as of today.

I think Fannin is an interesting prospect, but somewhere along the lines of Pitts (not necessarily a bad thing). Probably a little more situationally dependent than your classic TE, hopefully whomever drafts him has a vision on what to do with him.

Yeah, Loveland, Warren, and Fannin seem to be the only draft-able TEs in dynasty.

If the #Panthers were to trade back and take Penn State TE Tyler Warren, I’d be for it.

+ alignment versatility
+ ball skills
+ physicality at POA and w/ ball in his hands
+ quality blocker in run game

Clip 1 (blocking ability), Clip 2 (pass catching ability vs. ORE)

Funny, when I saw the Nagy tweet I thought to myself that Warren looks much thicker than Clark from memory. I looked up their bios and Tyler is 3 inches taller but only 9 lbs more. Besides the difference in height/weight Warren looks way more athletic than the Dallas Clark comp.

NFL Draft Files
Tyler Warren is an elite tight end prospect.

He’s cleaned up drops (15% in 2023 to 2.8% drop rate in 2024) and become an elite contested catcher (61.9%).

Warren is also a MONSTER after the catch, forcing 30 missed tackles in 2024.

TE1 for the 2025 Draft.

David J. Gautieri
Tyler Warren is going to be very high in my 2025 rookie rankings.

93.2 PFF Receiving Grade this year.

Almost 3.00 YPRR (2.93).

70%+ career contested-catch success-rate.

6.7 career YAC/reception (16 broken tackles this season).

Diverse utilization (35.5% in-line rate, 46.6% slot-rate, 12.6% out-wide).

Can’t wait to see the athletic testing.

.@dpbrugler on Penn State TE Tyler Warren:

“Warren will have the testing numbers that GM Chris Ballard covets, and he is NFL-ready and quarterback-friendly, exactly the combo the #Colts should be targeting to help QB Anthony Richardson develop.”

He outperformed Pitts at the collegiate level when comparing the numbers. Pitts had a great rookie season but fell off but we need to see more to try and answer your question properly.

He looks the part but I’m just starting to dig into his numbers.

The thing with Pitts wasn't so much about his production in college, although he did have nice numbers his senior year (43 for 770 and 12)

What made him an exciting prospect was more about his elite size, speed and potential. He looked like he could be Calvin Johnson playing TE, a potential mismatch nightmare for NFL defenses. Unfortunately something just never clicked for him at the NFL level, and looking back, he was extremely raw for a guy that wound up going #4 in the draft.

Warren looks like a much safer prospect at TE. He's not Kyle Pitts, but he's not Brock Bowers either. He's more of a prototypical TE that should excel at the next level. He's going to go very high in this draft.

ETA - Fannin was an elite receiver this year. Teams knew what was coming and they still couldn't stop him. Good teams, bad teams, elite defenses, it did not matter. His weight might be a problem as a traditional TE in the NFL. I believe his combine testing will be very important to his draft stock because I'm not sure how effective he is/will be as a blocker. He was used a lot out wide and in the slot this season and could not be stopped by anyone. He does play much faster than his reported 40 time. This might be a lazy comparison, but he looks like an upgraded version of Isaiah Likely to me. He's a very interesting prospect.

Why is that a lazy comparasion…I think it makes a ton of sense.

I can see the Eagles taking a shot on Fannin in the 2nd round. They need a Goedert replacement.
