Colston to miss a month (1 Viewer)

I would guess Patten is the FA pickup here. It also means Meachem won't be a healthy scratch now, but Patten would clearly be in line for the highest increase in looks. Henderson remains primarily a deep threat, although I suppose he could see a few more targets a game.

The shark move is Robert Meachem.
I think he's the upside play but keep in mind he was inactive in Week 1. I wouldn't be surprised Patten became Bobby Engram-esque in PPR leagues with Colston out. He's a vet, he played well as a starter last year and Brees trusts him. Bush and Shockey will likely be the main beneficiaries.

Another point is that 1 month doesnt seem like long enough time for a torn ligament in a thumb of a WR

Homer here.

Brees has always distributed the ball well. I would say immediate bump for Shockey and Patten. Henderson's value is the big play, so I don't see this effecting his value at all. Patten will be the WR that steps up....sure Meacham's play will probably increase, but if you're b/w the two, I'd grab Patten.

Also bump Bush in PPR (as if he wasn't high already).

Damn you injury gods!:cry:Patten, Meachem, Henderson, and Copper should all have some value in Colston's absence

This definitely elevates Robert Meachem some, he'll likely be starting now as opposed to a healthy scratch. I would say this bumps Shockey's value, because he'll be used even more as a possession receiver. His YPC might come down a bit as a result, but it should mean more receptions. David Patten's and Lance Moore's value should also rise. Devery Henderson has always been a deep threat and not much else. I'm not sure if this really changes him though. It's very possible that Reggie Bush could also see an increase in receptions, because he'll be one of the team's few play makers.

I also think they will go more to the ground. Listen, Brees has confidence in all his receivers and I think it could be a case where he spreads the ball around. This injury to Colston could explain why he wasn't very effective during the Bucs game.

Fool me once, fool me 100 times on Henderson. He has one good game, I pick him up, he disappears. Rinse and repeat.

No thanks.

For those interested, here are the target details for the week 1 game:

Reggie Bush - 9 targets - 8 catches, 112 yards, TD

Jeremy Shockey - 6 targets, 6 catches, 54 yards

Marques Colston - 6 targets, 3 catches, 26 yards

Lance Moore - 4 targets, 2 catches, 17 yards

Devery Henderson - 2 targets, 1 catch, 84 yards, TD

David Patten - 2 targets, 1 catch, 39 yards, TD

Pierre Thomas - 2 targets, 2 catches, 17 yards

Mark Campbell - 1 target, 0 catches, 0 yards

Homers, who steps into Colston's role in his absence?

this is so not the shark move, it isnt funny
We can agree to disagree.Meach showed during the pre-season that he was actually getting it. This is actually a good thing for all Meachem owners as if he doesn't do it now then you'll truly know what you have.I'm banking on Meachem to be actived ( ) and to possibly start with Henderson being the 3rd WR with Patten moving into the slot during 3 WR sets.

starting now? really dude wasnt even active week 1 . Patten and Henderson are starting

And this is why FBG is so awesome. Patten and Henderson are both out there in a lot of leagues. And with no info on ANY injury to Colston until this, the guys that get the info quick are going to be able to snap up one of those guys.

Now it's just a matter of figuring out who to drop...

This is unbelieveable

First Brady done, then Barber with his Ribs, now Colston

Who it the guy to pickup ?
   Great, in one league, I have now lost Brady, Burelson, Merriman (SD team Defense) and Colston. WTF? I guess I am in for a long season. Damnit, on paper pre-week 1, my team looked like the best team and now I am scrambling to replace 3 starters out of 7.

Just hope none of your players are on my team.

I'm glad I picked up Patten with my 17th and final pick in the draft. I think he will benefit a lot from this as well as Shockey and Bush. However I think teams will key on Bush even more now that Colston is out because they all know he is the main playmaker.

4-6 weeks seems quick to me also. I found this after some google searching:

http://www.orthogate.org/patient-education...-the-thumb.html

Code:
After SurgeryYou will be placed in a thumb spica cast after surgery for four weeks. Some surgeons will take the spica cast off at four weeks and then place your thumb in an immobilizing splint for another two weeks. Some patients work with a physical or occupational therapist to help regain range of motion and strength in the thumb. Most patients are able to return to normal activity three months after their surgery.
My first instinct was to lowball the Colston owner and stash him until the 2nd half of the season. This makes me hesitant. Any doctors in the house?

I'm guessing he meant active.

Mother of God. I have him in 3 leagues. Luckily I had Eddie Royal on the bench in two of those.

Target-wise, I think this helps Bush and Shockey the most. Henderson, Patten, and Meachem will be bigger factors than they were, but I wouldn't expect any 8-120 days from them.

Man I hate injuries. When I drafted my WR's looked promising (Ocho Cinco, Colston and Holt). Well now........

I guess it could be worse though.

ESPN reporting via text that Marques Colston out 4-6 weeks after undergoing surgery for torn left thumb ligament. Sorry if this is old news.

wha?healthy scrath to starter?

why wouldnt NO want such a valuable 'posession receiver' starting day 1?

Wow...just 1 hour ago I had the following trade offer I made rejected:

I get:

WR-Marques Colston-NO

TE-Antonio Gates-SD

He gets:

RB-Larry Johnson-KC

TE-Heath Miller-PIT

LMAO...

Now...the SHARK move would be to mixup my offer and take Colston out and put a different WR in, and see if I can swing that. And then grab whichever NO WR I think will take his place.
