Colston? (1 Viewer)

Yeah he is a stud.

No worries. Was held out because they know what he can do.

Draft accordingly.

Is Colston supposed to play tonight on MNF?
Did he get traded to the Falcons or Bengals?
:goodposting: There was another thread (not going to look it up) where they said that Colston and I think Henderson (? - I have Colston so only paid attention to that) practiced on Sunday and might play on Thursday. I wouldn't worry if they didn't play as most teams don't play anybody of relevance more than a few snaps in the last pre-season game. As long as he practices this week and there is no sign of a setback, he should be fine. It sounded like he was ready to go, but again, why risk it?

i have no inside info on the colston situation, but it's not like he's a grizzled veteran. he's a second year player that came out of nowhere last year. i'm pretty sure if he was healthy he'd be playing to gain valuable experience, gel with his offense, and get up to speed for the start of the season. that being said, the saints might be just trying to allow him to get as healthy as possible for the start of the season. or his injury could be more serious that will linger throughout the season. again, i have no idea which it is.

looks like he had another MRI on his knee and again nothing showed up. its just sore and they want to be sure/safe. colston said if it was the regular season, he'd probably play. doesnt sound real bad, but i'm sure colston owners would rather not be dealing with this now.ETA: rotoworld is reporting that colston returned to practice sunday and may play thursday in the saints final preseason game

Colston in 2007 = Michael Clayton 2005 Draft accordingly
Based on? I'm interested to hear your analysis.
Just like with Boldin and Fast Willie, some people need to see it twice to believe.
I can certainly understand that, but Clayton was a major bust in 2005. If you are going to proclaim that Colston is also going to bust, I think you should provide some analysis to back that up.

More than likely, it's just a prediction/statement from a bitter owner who missed the boat on Colston last year. He's hoping his lack of foresight in 2006 doesn't lead to more disappointment in 2007.

Hmmm, Clayton = Colston....Clayton's first year Galloway and Jurevicous both out for 6 games in Clayton's first year, thusly being the only option for extended periods. His second year, the Griese/Simms combo/muck-up (3100, 17/14), and the return of Joey Galloway as the #1 and deep threat.vsDrew Brees and his 4,400 26/11 coming back. The same cast of characters, much less the departure of Joe Horn and his 700/4 to be allocated back into the WR corps.Yeah, both petri dishes for year two are scientifically close (rolleyes)

 the colston/clayton comparison is insane and based on nothing solid.

Basically it's a gut feeling. I don't think that Colston has what it takes to be a true #1 WR. I believe that he was pretty banged up last year (ankle) and has already started this season banged up ala Clayton 2005. If those injuries continue it could be a long year for Colston. Also how will he adjust to being the #1 WR option week in and week out. Last year he burst onto the scene and no one knew what he was capable of, this year they have lots of tape on him. Colston is entering his 2nd year after a great rookie campaign. I truly don't beleive that he's going to live up to the hype that people are giving him. I could be wrong, but that's what FF is all about opinions. I stayed away from him this year base upon my feelings. I'm in the camp that I don't think the NO offense will be as strong as it was last year. It was a magical season, no doubt, I just don't see it happening again. You don't have to agree with my opinions or even listen to them, I just wanted to share what I thought. Here's to hoping that I'm not wrong and this doesn't get bumped in December!

Colston was already the #1 option week in week out for much of the year last year. Also, TD production is usually quite variable, especially in WRs, but he's one of the few WRs that you can be almost certain to put up minimum 8 TDs I would think, and probably double digits. He's a huge red zone threat. He just uses his body so well to square up to the QB and box out the DB. Plus, I don't see a regression for this offense this year. Bush is only getting better, and Payton is a great coach that knows how to exploit the mismatches that Bush can create. The only legitimate worry I would havefor Colston, besides staying fully healthy, would be whether or not one or two of the other receivers can step up and take some pressure off Colston. But again, the Bush factor should already help with this too.

The only way Colston is not a stud this year is if Brees spreads the ball so thin ala Brady he doesn't live up to the high ADP.

Have you guys seen Colston play? The guy is a huge, HUGE, skinny, TE-like target that runs and plays like a WR. He is really a unique individual IMO. I think the guy can get open almost at will, and even when he doesn't he still has the height and reach advantage to beat out most CBs/safeties and catch balls that would normally be uncatchable. He truly has the dual downfield/redzone talent that all of the best fantasy WRs combine. The only worry I have with Colston is injury because he is such a big target. One decleater could break the guy in half.
