Colston's value (1 Viewer)

H0w effective should he be upon return? IWhat's the track record with players who've suffered similar injuries?

Assuming he misses the full 6 weeks, is it appropriate to discount his projections by 45-50 % and value him accordingly - making him equal to roughly WR30-35? Or should we give him more credit, assuming his PPG will still be elite when he comes back?

This is just off the top of my head, but didn't Owens play for awhile at an elite level with a torn ligament in his finger, get surgery, come back and light it up immediately?

The point is not that he misses 40% of the season, and so you devalue him by 40%. You add the points his substitute makes in that 40%, and then what you expect he will do in the remaining 60%. It's the PPG that is important, provided you have some bench strength. For example, last year Colston was receiver #9 in our league. To make it simple, if you assume he will produce at that level for 8 games, and you take 8 games for the #50 WR, the composite for 16 games puts you at receiver #24.

What is everyone getting and giving for Colston? Personally, I was offered Colston for my ROddy White, but I am trying to gauge his value. What's his value for the rest of the season and in terms of another WR?

I traded for colston and gave berrian and r white

I would think a lot of it depends on your roster ---- the deeper the bench, and the deeper the league, the more he's worth.

That's what I was thinking...obviously, I'm hoping the Colston owner in my leagues don't think it through!

Anyone have any predictions on Colston the rest of the year? I would think that with Brees and the NO offense playing the way they are, he should be a top 10 WR with top 5 upside going forward.

I traded Santana Moss for him straight up. I've got Brees and wanted the combo--and like their late season schedule better than Washington's anyway.I'm expecting him to score top 10-12 numbers per game here on out, which imo makes those two pretty comparable this year.

I am very high on Colston the rest of the season.

The way Brees is playing, they are putting up sick passing yards. NO d still sucks so lots of 300+ yd passing days.

Lance Moore has been producing the past month. Colston gets that much production plus another 10-15% each week....

Is there any chance that because of Moore's emergence, Henderson and Meachem both being healthy, Patten coming back and the fact that Bush seems to be getting even more targets that Colston cannot reach the expectations that people have for him?

I mean, there is only one ball, and to think that Colston could get 8-10 targets per game might be unrealistic, no?

I am a Colston owner who is getting offers for him left and right and wondering if his value, right now, is as high as it could be going forward.

Thoughts?

Well said point. I think this mostly lies in the time of possession camp honestly. One of the primary counter-strategy's against NO will be to simply keep their offense off the field with a time-consuming running game. If Vilma shows up like he has been and the defense gets healthier, I don't think this strategy will work. That leaves it up to the offense to limit turnovers. I like their chances of getting a good 65 plays a game at the rate they play. I don't think Patten will be playing in the starting WR core except as a spell. He was good while he lasted, but the WR have grown and no longer need his vet'ness (word?!). I really think we're going to see Colston/Moore/Henderson being the primary lineup with Meachem splitting with Henderson and Patten coming in on 4 wr sets (assuming they don't just put Deuce in the backfield and split Reggie out for the 4 wide).

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I love your view...NOT....I hate to be so haste, but the only reason they are even seeing the field is because the alltime leader for receptions in the first 2 years of his career has been injured, not to mention all the dropped passes by these so called emerging stars that could have been made by the MAN amongst boys....BREES SEES AND KNOWS THAT!!!Brees has loved Colston from day one, and I don't see that changing cuz of some negative vibe your getting....1,000 and 8 from here on out!!!He was projected to be a stud, and I don't see a thumb stopping that when they are 3-3, so chances are they are missing something....and his NAME IS COLSTON!!!!!!!!!
