Colts Defense vs Pass #1? (1 Viewer)

Debating about starting Crabtree this week, and I stumbled across the #1 rated pass defense of the Colts. The give up on avg 179 yards and have surrendered only 2 passing TDs. Pretty impressive. Until you look at the games they have played.

Week 1: Jax. Garrard (14/28 122) has a bad day, but is without MSW (and with Troy Williamson). Holt leads the WRs with 3/47 and MJD gets 123/1 from scrimmage.

Week 2: Mia. The Dolphins own the time of possession in this game by running the ball at will. Still Ginn 11/108 has a good game, and Pennington 22/33 for 183 with 1 INT is respectable.

Week 3: Ari. Warner (30/52/332 1TD, 2 Ints) has his biggest yardage day of the year. Breaston (7/94) and Boldin (6/83/1) both have their best games so far this year, and Fitz (7/76) is solid.

Week 4 Sea. Seneca Wallace (33/45/257 1TD) gets the start and the Seahawks get blown out. Housh (8/103) has his best day of the year.

Week 5 Ten. Kerry Collins (19/32/164 1 Int) and VY (0/3) combine to be awful.

Week 7. Stl. Bulger (14/26/140 2 Ints) is awful. Avery has 2/58 on the strength of a flea flicker. SJax has a good day with 134 on the ground.

Jax 14th, Mia 26th, Ari 7th, Sea 17th, Ten 25th, Stl 27th are the current passing rankings of all these teams.

I'm not sure that Alex Smith is a legitimate starting QB yet either. But it sure seems like the Colts schedule has really aided their ranking. The only Colts game I have seen in its entirety was the week 2 tilt vs Mia. Can any homers kick in their thoughts regarding the Colts pass D? I know Sanders is coming back, but isn't his best attribute run support?

what's the line between respectable and horrible --- 175 yds?

From what I've watched of them, with Freeney in, they are pretty darn good. I like Crabtree to start as he'll get his targets, but it'll be a tough week against the Colts.

The good thing is, Indy puts up so many points so fast, the opposition gets lots of time on the field and will likely be playing from behind. == lots of passes to Crabtree.

I watched the INDY/MIA game. With Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams dominating, Pennington looked pretty good. 66% completion percent was what Miami wanted out of him. Collins and VY completing 54% combined wasn't what the Titans were looking for IMO.

collins was 19/32 (qb rating 59.9), while pennington was 22/33 (qb rating 68.1) --- where's the line between awful and respectable, 20 completions?

I am buying the Indy defense, it may not be the #1 pass defense, but it is one of the better ones. This is the best Colts defense they have had in the Manning era, so watch out. It may be difficul to keep the Colts out of the SB.

Where is the line between being a knob, and adding something to the board?Try watching a game once. Then tell me Pennington wasn't respectable in that game.

I was impressed with the Colts ability to stop the run in the Seattle game. What made it more impressive was they brought a fierce pass rush in the second half when Seattle was in obvious passing downs. Freeney and Mathis bring the nasty.

I added something in the 3rd post which was skipped over in favor of you doggedly trying to win some kind of internet argument over a nonsense point by insulting me.consider this a social experiment.
