Colts OL coach Mudd to retire? (1 Viewer)

Anyone who follows the Colts knows that the one coach that is the closest thing to a miracle worker is OL coach Howard Mudd (not Tom Moore, not anyone else). The fact that he likely has to retire because of screwed-up pensions rules is quite irksome - but the reality is that this really will hurt the OL. Any potential progress this group was going to make from last year to this year is now in jeopardy.

I'm a few months ahead of you with the `Colts ship is sinking fast` theory..losing Dungy will hurt more than losing anyone else on that coaching staff...

While Mudd's potential retirement hurts, I strongly disagree with your assessment of the Colts.Caldwell has already addressed 2 of the biggest weaknesses of the Dungy era:

Special Teams coach was fired.

Defensive Coordinator was let go.

Plus, the Colts have upgraded their DL significantly.

I'd say no worse than 11-5. If that is "sinking fast" then so be it.

My assessment is based on fantasy football - it will hurt in that sense. The potential DL improvement is the biggest off-season story for the Colts in the grand scheme of things.

I knew where you were coming from. I assumed Tanner was speaking about the Colts team, not FF.

I assumed you were talking about Tanner's quote. I just was clearing up for everyone here what I meant.

Kind of screwed up rules for an employee (top quality, no less) to have to choose to retire so he doesn't lose money from his retirement account.

OK, those of you who are claiming the Colts will sink, how about putting some coin where your mouth is? Surely a team that's sinking must drop to at least 8-8, so I will do you one better and give you a real advantage and say the Colts must go at least 10-6 or better. How about $50? Anyone game? If not, then drop this sinking BS.

ETA: Of course that hinges on Manning playing in 95% of their games.

There's no way Team Louisiana loses more than six regular season games next year. Up the bet to 11-5.

So, are you saying @11-5 this represents the Colts "sinking fast"? Or are you just trying to goad him into a bet?

LOL at 10-6 = sinking fast

Someone tell me about the rookie OT you drafted Jaimie Thomas. This guy any good? Does he have a shot to supllant R. Lilja maybe at LG? Will loss of Mudd ultimatly kill his chances?

Doesn't have anything to do with them "sinking fast." I was just trying to predict their record.

Got ya. In that case, we're in agreement.
