PK Adam Vinatieri of the Indianapolis Colts injured his groin last Sunday against the Houston Texans and will miss a game for the first time in his 11-year career. Veteran Martin Grammatica will handle the kicking duties for the team.

Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the Indianapolis Colts have signed free agent PK Martin Gramatica (Patriots) to an undisclosed contract, according to league sources. The Colts remain cautiously optimistic PK Adam Vinatieri (groin) will be able to handle field goals during the game. However, team officials fear Vinatieri could aggravate the injury if he has to perform kickoffs during the Week 3 game. It is likely Gramatica signed for the minimum salary of $585,000, prorated over the number of weeks he is with the team.
