Rob Chudzinski.

Now D'Qwell Jackson.

Jim Irsay is bound and determined to try and make-up for that 1st round draft pick the Browns got.

Congrats to DQwell Jackson signing big deal w #Colts. Have to believe it removes Colts from making offer to Alex Mack.

D'Qwell is a great team leader and better than anything the Colts had.

Indy will love him and he still has at least two-three years left on his legs.

Good signing.

5.5 a year does not seem out of hand to me.

And don't buy all the decline stuff.
I buy the "decline stuff" when I read "struggled badly against the run over the last two years".
That was in Cleveland on a team in total flux.
I'm not sure what that has to do with shedding the block and making the tackle before he gains 8 yards or more.
Also, all his good years were on a Cleveland team in total flux.

No kidding. That team has been changing like crazy. Rhubin and Jabaal went from stud to dud. Ward went from stud to dud back to stud. The players can't help the schemes and utilization that they are put into.

Jackson is a hard-hitting tackling machine. If someone wants to call their shot by isolating a stat or scenario, its kind of silly to do so. Others will likely look at age and draw a similar conclusion but look at an even older guy like Dansby. Sometimes a change of scenery plays well.

I'd say he gets 90+ tackles just by design and helps the real-life Colts this year as a captain of the defense.

I am sure his play will be fine for a couple of seasons and worth it for Indy. It is not as if he is ancient and it is never a bad thing to bring in a quality guy that is a hard worker and will help lead the D.

You can liken it to Jon Beason last year with NY. He was not the difference maker he was in his early years in Carolina, but he made the Giants a heck of a lot better. Beason at 29 was said to have been in total decline and not worth much at all, but I liked what I saw from him last year.

Really overpaid even if he took a bit of a cut in pay from Cleveland. D'Qwell is 31 years old and among the dregs of the league at run stopping according to PFF grades. There's no team in the league that would have overpaid like Indy did. They must be desperate to get free agency rolling.

I will be betting on my IDP teams this year that he is not in decline, and a move to a 4-3 is just what the doctor ordered.

....looks like the Colts are smarter than we give them credit for.

The Colts' fortuitous cap situation provided flexibility when structuring Jackson’s contract. His $1 million signing bonus means they’ll be able to cut ties with him after 2015 with just $500,000 of dead money attached.

I like the move, can't be any worse than they were fielding last year. Gives them two-years to find a guy to develop as well.
