Here is our starting lineup + bench:

2 qbs

2 rbs

3 wrs

1 TE

1 flex (rb/wr/te)

K

D/ST

________

7 bench spots

My question is: What should our auction amount be. I know standard is $200 but that is usually for 16 roster spots. This league will have 18.

Dollar amounts don't really matter except to make it easier for cheat sheets. I've seen leagues where where they use the actual NFL cap amount.

The total is irrelevant.  It's all based on percentages of the cap anyway.  Using around $200 is usually a good value to allow for some playing around and bid ups.  If  you think that isn't quite enough since you have 18 players then bump it up to $250.

ETA:   If you want to really increase the excitement then make your franchise fee tied to your auction bids.  $1=$1.  So you can bid as little or as much as you would like to spend on your team.  You can put an end cap to it or not depending on if you want to let someone just buy players at ridiculous amounts of money.
