Commish Ruling regarding Official Stats (1 Viewer)

Okay how do you handle the Elias Sports Bureau changes that come out on Fridays? Normally i just make the changes and go on my merry way but last week's changes will affect the outcome of a matchup of which I am the team that gets the Win.

So every week the MFL league site uses the official stats from the Elias Sports Bureau which is the official stats for the NFL and scoring.

Every friday they release scoring changes and I apply them to the previous week just like i have done for the past 3 years. In the past there has never been a real issue with this but last week there is.

Week 4:

e Elias Sports Bureau has made the following official stat changes for Week #4:

Chad Pennington: from 290 to 291 passing yards.

Jerricho Cotchery: from 106 to 107 receiving yards.

Kelly Holcomb: from 1 to 0 rush attempts.

Kelly Holcomb: from 4 to 5 sacks against.

Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila: from 2 to 3 sacks.

Larry Fitzgerald: from 11 for 123 to 10 for 120 receiving.

Bryant Johnson: from 3 for 37 to 4 for 40 receiving.

James Harrison: from 0 sacks to 0.5 sack for 2 yards.

Aaron Smith: from 1 sack for 4 yards to 0.5 sack for 2 yards.

Aaron Smith: from 3 tackles and 0 assists to 2 tackles and 1 assist.

Darnell Dockett: from 3 sacks for 29 yards to 2.5 sacks for 24.5 yards.

Darnell Dockett: from 5 tackles and 1 assist to 4 tackles and 2 assists.

Bert Berry: from 0 sacks to 0.5 sack for 4.5 yards.

Bert Berry: from 0 to 1 assist.

Adalius Thomas: from 1 sack for 8 yards to 0.5 sack for 4 yards.

Adalius Thomas: from 4 tackles and 1 assist to 3 tackles and 2 assists.

Jarvis Green: from 0 sacks to 0.5 sack for 4 yards.

Jarvis Green: from 1 to 2 assists

The problem is with Week 4 and Larry Fitzgerald. It looks like they recorded a reception for 3yds to the wrong player and it should have been Bryant Johnson.

His team won by .9pts and this is going to make a difference in scoring of 1.3 points which is going to cause the other team to lose his matchup with me last week.

Now to make things worse, MFL website has been having issues over the past 2 weeks right at kickoff and he stated he submitted a different lineup but the system didnt take it. There was another person from the league that saw him put in his lineup but of course they didnt confirm the lineup they just assumed it took. Of course we discussed this on the message board and dismissed it since he won his matchup. Well, now it looks like the official stats say he didnt win.

So there is my delimma. If i process the stat changes as I should because there was changes, then he will get the loss and I will get the win.

What do I do here as commish and a owner?

It seems your rules cover this. The only thing is with MFL having problems and who he wanted to play, is there another player that he says he wanted to play??

You have until Saturday after the previous week to get things corrected - or at least protest for a correction while showing were the mistake is.

Once the next Sunday rolls around, its in the books and final. Thats it.

that's missing somethere's a difference between Elias and Stats due to human's scoring it and opinions and all.

For example-at Giants.com you'll find a mention of a Kiwi sack being changed to a half Kiwi half Tuck sack and a FF for Tuck.

As the commish, I'd take the guy at his word on the changed lineup, especially considering that he has someone backing him up that he did in fact change it. Then you re-calculate the score based on that lineup. If you lose, you lose.

At the least, you put the issue to a league-wide vote.

Not really, we used to use CBS but we had a terrible time with their site and the price was double of MFL. MFL is 10 times the site than CBS.The stats changes is not part of MFL its where the official stats come from so thats not really a solution to my problem. I cant pickup and switch to CBS today.

Yes the rules cover it, and he did have another player that he wanted to put in.At 9:30am PST on sunday i received an email from one of the other team owners saying he was having problems with the site. I also experienced the same problems. So at 9:45 i sent out an email to the entire league stating if you need to make a lineup change email your change to the entire league.No emails were sent out prior to the 10am kickoffOn monday morning i get this email:I was supposed to have Muhsin Muhammed playing for Hines Ward and Vernand Morency playing for Adrian PetersonI submitted my adjusted lineup around 12:15 or 12:20 EST yesterday morning and it showed the lineup I wanted. If i was dealing with two other owners then i would have to have physical proof of the submission. Someones word is great and all but $250 entry fee isnt chump change.

Also ESPN and Yahoo have him listed as 10 for 120 week 4. So its not like its only MFL

If you had a problem with your starting lineup, would you 5 or more days to bring it up? This sounds fishy to me, so I would setup a league poll.For the future, have everyone in the league to go into their advanced setup and select "Send EMail For: Opponent's (And Own) Lineup Submission." Little doubt will be left of each players lineup submissions.

Ya i understand the fishyness but i just went to apply the stat changes this past sunday and found the potential issue. I sent and email stating exactly what you mentioned above to the owner that said he put in a lineup. I have that option checked in my teams settings and i did not receive a lineup change from him.Is it my responsibility to go into everyone's team and make sure that option is on? i guess its no big deal.

I processed the stat changes and luckily he had the Greenbay defense. There was a stat change giving them 1 more sack which only results in a .3pt difference instead of 1.3 with the Fitz change. So it wont be an issue but it could have been.

If Elias is applicable to your scoring system, make the changes, provide the link on the message board, and explain the situation.
