Computer/Office Chair Recommendations? (1 Viewer)

I usually like to do my research on an item before I buy it, but deciding on a new chair for my computer has had me end up in a dead end over and over. In the past, I've gotten the $70-100 chairs from Costco or Office Max but they are never that comfortable and never last more than 1-2 years before they break. I rock and shift my weight a lot (especially when I game) which aparentally means I'm rough on my chairs (an arm falls off, the upholstery chips off, and often the bottom part where the chair meets the piston that allows it to rise/fall breaks rendering it useless).

I look around and most review sites I see mention things like Heman Miller Aerons that cost $500-800 and don't look comfortable at all. I've never been a big fan of the mesh chairs, there isn't a way to easily try one out myself to see if it would change my mind, and $500 for a chair like that seems highway robbery (although the 10 year warrenty is impressive considering how quickly I go through chairs).

I'm halfway thinking of just buying a $300-400 recliner and sticking it infront of my computer.

Anyone else out there that has gone through the same search and found your answer?

I'm in the exact same boat. I work from home so I'm in the chair all day and usually get about 2-3 years out of them.

$500 is so worth it. Love my Herman Miller Mirra chair. Bought mine used. I've had it 6 years and it's still perfect. Worth the investment in my opinion. Mesh seat like the Aeron, but a different back. I thought is was a lot more comfortable than the Aeron.

Bust the lock off the wallet and get a chair that won't need to be replaced for a long long time.

Ikea Markus is probably one of the better budget chairs you can find. It won't last as long and doesn't have as many adjustments as the high end chairs but it's pretty solid for the money. There are lots of reviews on it if you do a google search.

I have an aeron at home and in the office. Love those things. Both have had parts break that were replaced and repaired for free under the warranty in less than 48 hours. There should be a high end office store near you where you can try one out.

Not surprisingly there are the Herman Miller supporters suggesting the $500-800 mesh chairs. I've seen a lot of positive reviews for them, so I'd be willing to give it a try, but I'm not dropping that kind of money without sitting in one first. Visually, they look simple and not very comfortable so there has to be something more to them to get the praise they've been getting that I just can't see. Unfortunatley, only specific stores carry them, and none close by to me. Buying used eliminated the warranty I'm pretty sure, and also comes with the "no idea WTF this chair has been" part.

I  my Aeron. I've had mine for over 10 years. I even took it home when my former firm went belly up. If you'll be sitting in it all day, it's well worth the money.

There is no subtle way to ask this. Is the chair comfortable for masturbating?

Bumping this for 2016... home office needs a new chair.  Anyone have any recommendations for a chair less pricey than the Herman Millers?
