I remember the tv announcers calling him a dirty player, among other things. He played with Dan Dierdorf when the Cardinals had 3 offensive linemen make the pro bowl 4 straight seasons. Jim Otis and Terry Metcalf were a pretty good rb combo.

Probably the greatest offense of all time in a day when you could beat the @##% out of the wide receivers and the offensive lineman couldn't use their hands. I think they still hold the record for the least sacks in a single season. They even marched up and down the field against the Steel Curtain. Mel Gray Finne - Young - Banks - Dobler - Dierdorf Misc WR Otis Metcalf J. Smith HartJim Hannifin - Joe Gibbs - Don CoryellDobler was said to be the master of the leg whip and you didn't want to meet him at the bottom of a pile.
I saw it mentioned on a Bills Message Board that Dobler while with the Bills, broke the arm of a Defensive player on his own team during practice because he thought he was a #####. (kitty)
I remember a Thanksgiving game between the Dolphins & the Cardinals back in the late 1970's where Miami was blowing St.Louis out by about 40, late in the game a fight breaks out midfield and who's in the middle of it? Conrad Dobler. I think he got ejected, but I'm not sure as I was only around 8 at the time. Feisty young fella that Dobler

The final score was 55-14. Bob Griese threw 5 TD passes, his best game ever. A.J. Duhe was having his way all day with Dobler before the brawl started. Guy was a real jerk, spitting on everybody, etc. The Cards were 7-3 and riding a 6-game winning streak but this nationally televised embarrassment (at home) kind of triggered a whole collapse of the franchise. I think they lost like 12 straight games afterwards. They were one of the NFL's better teams at the time but Don Coryell left after the season (and they got rid of Dobler too) and they haven't done much of anything since.
