This is my first year in a dynasty league and it's also has a cap/contract (1-5 yrs). Is there a good reference guide to help me determine how many years to keep a player? Each year the contract goes up 10% or I can resign them for a 40/50/60% increase after their contract.

Not really, that I know of. The dynasty rankings are very "gut" compared to single year projections. It's hard enough to project a player for a single year, but dealing with 5 years is a very nebulous thing.

The common sense rules apply. Young players are more likely to be deserving a longer contract than older players. There have been, I believe, articles done about performance of players vs age, broken out by position. Might want to pay some attention to those.

A lot of what you should or shouldn't do is going to depend on your league setup and your specific contract rules. The decisions in my own contract, salary cap dynasty league are probably not going to be much at all like what yours are because of how different leagues structure their contract rules and have different starting lineups and such.
