Hey, I just came across this new website, STATS Hosted Solution and was impressed by the fact that they keep stats on o-linemen that include sacks allowed, false starts and other penalties called on them, and the corresponding yardage lost.

For example, you can with just a click of your mouse see why Leonard Davis was made the highest paid guard in league history.

ETA- This can be a useful tool for picking defensive linemen matchups against these guys.

I like the idea of recording these stats quite a bit. I know in a few cases, however, that they are not perfectly accurate (e.g., Eric Parker's drops in 2006 -- it counts two, but I can think of four specific unquestionable drops off the top of my head), which makes me question how reliable they are in general.

Very cool site. Interesting, Walter Jones allowed 10.5 sacks last year which was by far the most of any Tackle I looked up.

Awesome site. Anyone know what stuffs/carry means under rushing stats/team leaderboards? For instance:

Lions have the most with 13.2

Eagles have the least with 5.8

I assume this means Lions get a no gain/loss of yards 13.2 of every 100 rushing attempts?

We were discussing that very thing on a Redskins board. I've maintained that he's the best Redskins lineman of the last three years, and that even goes for Samuels. He also pulls and blocks in space as well as anyone. Thomas doesn't get enough credit for how good of a player he is.

Looks like they are just repackaging the stats from Stats, Inc.They've made it nicer and easier to link quickly to other stats/teams/depth charts, etc., though. I also like the player news integrated on the individual stats pages.

It certainly didn't help, but they were doomed when Brunell's knee got injured in that second Giants game. He couldn't step into this throws any more, much less buy time with his legs and occasionally scramble for yards, which meant he reverted back into his terrible 2004 form.

Here's some fun with these numbers ... a look at the 80 combined starts for the Raiders' 2006 O-line:

32 penalties / 243 yards (including 17 false starts / 10 holding)

46 sacks / 266 yards

Walker and Gallery tied for the team lead with 8 penalties and 10+ sacks allowed each.

I'm assuming the other 26 sacks the team allowed were failed attempts at blocks by RB's or blitzers that just came clean (both of which are entirely possible given the lack of scheme/lack of effort from the offense as a whole.) And the penalty numbers seem low to me, but then again I am a Raider fan and maybe it just felt like there were more.

I was referring to his stats. They weren't bad as a guard, but not good as a tackle. I have heard people(ESPN) say he could be a pro-bowl player at guard.
