Cordarelle Patterson vs. Stephen Hill moving forward (1 Viewer)

Hill is the #1 WR on his team and a favorite target of his QB - last week it seems they scaled him back a bit due to the concussion recovery, but with the game on the line in the last drive, he was the top target for Geno and the guy he looked for first.

This week will tell us a lot about Patterson's prospects the rest of the season. If he doesn't become more involved out of the bye, I'm not sure he will the rest of the season.

I love Patterson in dynasty and would take him over Hill all day, but in redraft I'm buying Hill. Geno is starting to figure it out and Hill seems to be the apple in his eye and once Santonio comes back I think it makes Hill even better.

Is there some particular reason we're comparing these 2 guys? I mean, other than just being young and playing WR, there's nothing here that warrants a discussion unless you're trying to figure out which side of your trade you want to be on. And for that, there's the ACF.

Right well I guess I had thought of the ACF as more of a weekly start forum, whereas the shark pool is not.

Because it's a FF discussion board? Because they are players in FF leagues? Because they both could be on the WW in some leagues, and the OP wants to get some insight on whether they would be worth adding in a redraft or dynasty league?

Why do we discuss any players? Why does anyone read this board? Because we're in FF leagues and are trying to get much information about these players as we can. That includes the perception that other FFers might have of those players.

I think you misunderstand his question and comment. gianmarco is saying that if the OP is looking for lineup or trade advice between two specific players, then the AC forum is the right place to get that advice. He is clearly not asking why we discuss fantasy players.

No, I understand the question. He has decided that the OP is asking whether he should pick up, trade, start these two players, and so he has decided to publicly call him out about it.

It's not an ACF question. If he thinks it is, report the post. He'll quickly find that the moderators disagree with him. It is a discussion about which of these two players is more valuable. If the OP (or anyone) uses that discussion to help him/her decide whether they should add, drop, trade, or start one of the players, that still doesn't make it an ACF post.

And there's a way to do that.

There is already a large thread (and others) on Patterson. Same goes for Hill. If you're looking for insight on those players, read through that and keep the discussion going there. Similarly, there are comparison threads that are very helpful. Julio vs. AJG. Adrian Peterson vs. Foster. Peyton vs. Brady. Or maybe the NYG WR situation Cruz vs. Nicks. Or DT vs. Decker. Those types of discussions are helpful because they apply to lots of owners.

But, this thread is pretty clearly a discussion regarding some type of trade because there's 0 connection between these guys. The OP has already admitted so. Why not just keep it? Well, if everyone that posts here starts asking random comparisons about their trades, then this board gets more cluttered and unreadable than it already is. "Alshon Jeffery vs. Doug Martin". "Vernon Davis vs. Martellus Bennett". The possibilities are endless and they overall help only a very small subset of owners that have those particular guys and are involved in moving one for another. The types listed above are more generic and describe like items or situations that help far more people and thus generate more discussion.

I could start an entire front page of "comparisons" from trade offers if I wanted to but it's not appropriate nor helpful for many. If you want to see what it does to the board, go pull up ppierce's similar useless threads. They are simply clutter and clearly ACF material. I'm all for good discussion, but this isn't it as it only applies to any Patterson or Hill owners looking to swap for the other.

Then report it to an administrator, let them decide if it's an ACF post. That's one of the things the "report" button is for. You'll see that they disagree with you, and they'll allow it to stay in the pool. It's not up to you to decide which threads are appropriate or not. Why do you get to decide that a thread comparing Cruz to Nicks is OK, but this one isn't?

Yeah it is just a post about who is more valuable. I don't have any trades planned. I do have Stephen Hill on my roster, but wouldn't trade him for Patterson or drop him for Patterson (if he was available, which he isn't). I also live in Minneapolis, so I am a Vikings fan. I think Patterson may start putting up some good games with Cassel/Freeman as the QB. Since it seems there is a problem with comparison threads in the Shark Pool, I will no longer post any comparison threads here and will instead put them in the ACF.
