Costco Love <3 (1 Viewer)

My family and I love big moves. It's exciting. We have moved over oceans 3 times. One of the first steps during a big move is to buy a big freezer for Costco food purchases. Wife texts me, "I'm stopping at Costco if you need anything" as much as "I love you" ha ha

Our yearly rebate check from Costco is always 1000 bucks. Love Costco.

I bought about 30 LED lights to put around the soffit of my house. Ended putting the project on hold because I needed a 40’ ladder and they ended up in a box in the garage.

We returned them (still unopened) ~ 3 years later and they gave us a full refund, cash in hand!

680.00 this year. Bought the Kodiak high protein pancake/waffle mix that is on sale this month. (y)

Just bought this 75" Samsung tv, my old tv died the day before the Super Bowl and I'm happy that I get 5 years of coverage plus $40 bucks back next year.

I also bought some Beats by Dre for an upcoming flight to Hawaii, I already have decided to take them back after I get back as the headphones suck for walking around in because for some reason they amplify the wind (even in noise cancelling mode).

Told the wife to grab a couple of those cookies on her way home from work. I hope they don't disappoint @belljr

And I know - I am such the romantic.
Asking her to also pick up a flower bouquet for herself while she was there would've been the icing on the cake.
She got the not fresh cookies and instead the prepackaged ones. We are sleeping in separate beds tonight

Sorry about the divorce

Costco Olive Oil - 2 pack: $53.99

:shock::eek:

Dude, that is for 6 liters. What do you think it should cost?

Hi Shuke,

Thanks for your reply. Having purchased this same item for several years now I can tell you that $53.99 is the most I - GM - have ever paid for olive oil. I don't know what it SHOULD cost, but I know this is the highest this one item has ever cost before.

Not all of us make robotic arm money, so a little grace would be appreciated.

Your pal,

GM

Every few months I get in the debate about refrigerator space with my wife. I have the massive container of Kim Chee that Costco sells. Nobody in my family eats it but me. They hate it. Hate the smell. Hate everything about it. It takes up half the top shelf. Ha ha. I eat it once a month. Maybe. I never win the debate but that damn container stays in the fridge. If they sold bigger ones I would buy it. It's the hill I die on.

I buy the Famous Daves pickles but keep a small used Vlasic jar that I refill..keep the huge gallon one in the garage fridge as it takes up too much space.

He got on me the other day too for how much I said my dinner cost. $huke??

I did a price comparison on ibuprofen: Kirkland two-pack of 500 tablets each (200 mg) priced at $10.99 ..so $5.50 each. The price at CVS for their comparable size is over $22. Yeesh!
That’s one of the reasons why I still will buy some things at Costco even if they go bad. I’d pay 25% or 50% of what you pay elsewhere, you are far ahead even if you waste 50% or 25%, respectively.

I will say that I’m much more pragmatic at not spending too much at Costco, but I don’t get mad if there is waste when I know we still saved money.

It’s not even the cost. If you are ordering for your restaurant, you should be happy to save money.

If you don’t own a restaurant, holy olive oil Batman, do you really use two jugs of olive oil on the regular? We use a decent amount for cooking and maybe use one bottle a year. I think it’s around $20 for the single Kirkland organic jug.

Well first, I figured you a man of sophistication and assume you were buy EVOO, not the fake stuff that's probably grapeseed oil. We use it almost every day, and the 2 L bottles we get last a while. Just curious how long 6 liters is lasting you.

Non-schtick answer is that there have been massive shortages in olive crops over the last several years largely due to weather conditions that has led to major supply issues for olive based products - low supply plus ever increasing demand leads to price increases.

That's actually a brilliant idea. Dont tell my wife. Ha ha

he needs to use more, not everyone has a superkid

Had to stop by the Costco Pharmacy, made my way over to the food court and saw they had the cookies. Ended up buying enough for my entire team (filled up a large pizza box) and they were still warm when I got back to the office. You would have thought I was giving out weed/coke/yourdrugofchoice. So much excitement.

And yes, they are as good as the hype.

Drop dog off at the groomers figure. I have some time walk on down to Costco to get me a big cookie and the freaking concession is closed. Looks like they're doing a remodel. I am the sad

Hot take incoming.

Costco's rotisserie chickens are horrible.

Yes, they are convenient and have saved us many times when we didn't have meals planned. Hell, I bought two on Sunday so we didn't have to worry about what to make a couple times this week. But there is hardly any taste, I mean no seasoning at all. But what really bothers me is the texture. At times it approaches what I would call "slimy". I think this is because they often have people waiting for these to come out of the ovens, and pull them as soon as one chicken reaches 160 F in the breast. Assuming some normal distribution of chicken size, there are probably some that are slightly undercooked. I'm not saying to the extent that they are a potential health issue, but definitely to where it affects texture.

Couldn't even bring myself to eating it a second time this week without putting it in the air fryer to cook more.

No idea if they have been mentioned but the Kirkland lightly breaded chicken breast nuggets are amazing.

4lbs for 13 bucks with no hormones or antibiotics… legit breast meat with light non greasy breading.

10 mins in the air fryer then toss in the sauce of your choice and you’ve got amazing “boneless wings” (aka chicken nuggets).

Agreed - so simple my kids make them in a pinch if I'm not able to make a dinner.

Also go great as an add on to salad.

Or, get some slider buns or Hawaiian rolls if you like sweet and make little chicken sliders with them

Will also make wraps/burritos out of them

Bingo. Lots of uses. Lots of frozen chicken products don’t seem like real chicken even if they claim they are… and almost all have a crappy/heavy/greasy side to them.

These seem almost healthy (for what they are).

Two Birds one Stone is a solid budget Red Wine, by the way. $6.99/bottle here and drinks like a solid $12-15 table wine. May have 6 cases in the pantry.

A few months ago my Costco had a Kirkland brand port and I bought 2 bottles and it was really great, especially for the price. Figured since it was Kirkland brand it would always be there. Haven’t seen it again. Frustrating!

I wonder what kind of deal they have with FedEx? We had one of their huge boxes shipped with about $75 worth of items for free with 2 day shipping. I know it would cost me well over $20 to ship that box.

Same with Chewy. I order a couple of cases of canned food for the dogs and a large bag of cat food and shipping is free.
