Costco Love <3 (2 Viewers)

A few months ago my Costco had a Kirkland brand port and I bought 2 bottles and it was really great, especially for the price. Figured since it was Kirkland brand it would always be there. Haven’t seen it again. Frustrating!
Most of the Kirkland wines are there once a year. When that vintage of that wine is gone, it's gone. Haven't had the port, so can't speak specifically to that, but I'd think it would be the same.

Costco now has a warm chocolate chip cookie at the food court, it’s fn amazing
We talkin' the Vintage Oaks location, or another one? I like the Costco ones better than the Crumbl ones.
Crumbl is so overrated. Possibly the most overrated anything of all.
THANK YOU

First time I got taken to one of these I thought it was shtick
They’re disgusting. The sugar content in them makes them inedible.

Good for sauces and poaching (pears for example).

Been making some stir fry and using only Costco main ingredients. Frozen Atlantic Salmon, frozen veggie stir fry blend, and jasmine rice. Did some calculating, and it comes out to $3.50 per serving for a damn tasty meal. Probably closer to $4.00 or $4.50 because I make my own sauce and didn't include that or the olive oil, but that's a bargain.

The salmon is $2.97 per serving, the veggies $.44, and the rice $.09.

I have some tofu from Costco that comes out to $.43 per serving which I am gonna sub for the protein and that would make for a super healthy and delicious and ridiculously cheap meal (sub $2.00 per serving including everything)

Anyone have an opinion on the Bose QuietComfort SC noise cancelling headphones? $220 after the $100 instant rebate at the cash register.

Have been wanting some over the ears headphones for a couple of upcoming long flights.

I’m not techy at all. I’m sure the sound will be more than adequate for me. I am interested in comfort and is this a good deal.

They are great headphones. They are available everywhere for near that price though so you really aren't getting 100 dollar deal.

While these are no Bose, they are pretty darn good for 1/5th of the price. If you aren't a crazy audiophile I wouldnt go spending 220 bucks on headphones

This is good info, did not know. I’ll load up next time. Thanks.

Bought a couple of adirondack chairs last night. Its nice knowing that if they don't hold up, I can just return them. Could've gotten cheaper from amazon, but you can't beat that return policy.

Last week I was browsing the aisles and came across a 12" Lodge Cast Iron Skillet that is part of the commemorative Dolly Parton collection. The back side of it has a guitar with Dolly written on it, and the guitar is inside some big butterfly wings. I bought it, but I haven't cooked on it yet.

I went today, and they had Halloween stuff out already.
Yeah I spent $250 on a giant skeleton
Lmao my wife wants that.

Mine too. It was sold out last year, I think I can talk her out of it this year since we just ordered $600 worth of ghosts from pottery barn
I was at our Costco the other day and they had it but our garage is literally packed with this stuff. I told her we’d have to rent a storage rental and she finally relented.

Yeah, I’ve been able to get out of several large purchases using the same excuse. If we did get it, where are we gonna put it”?

Careful. That gives them the idea to get rid of your stuff

On the less <3 side, mine stopped carrying the Bellatoria frozen pizzas a while back :kicksrock:
Even the Kirkland pepperoni disappeared for a couple months

Seems like something that would be easy to make for $15.

Yep, that is only reason I bought it! Wife wanted it
I sent my wife a picture of how big the box was with a text saying where would we put it???????? and I kept seeing that thing where people are writing a text with the 3 dots then they delete it and then write and delete before she finally said “yea ok” lol

So how big of a storage unit did you end up needing to rent? :-)

:lmao: she told me this morning to go back lmao.

We have an entire indoor closet devoted to holiday decorations and tons of room in the garage devoted to the outdoor stuff. Insanity.

I totaled it up once before, but the amount of holiday stuff we have is staggering

I think Halloween is 20+ Rubbermaid bins, plus some additional loose articles

Xmas is a ton too

Easter has a few

I have a 30gal 4th of July bin. Oh and a Valentine Day

Ok you may have us beat lol

What sucks is that I can't put out the $250 Halloween skeleton in early October without worrying about someone stealing it. People suck.

We had a Christmas decoration stolen a few years back. Since then everything is chained together with padlocks and secured to trees or posts.

The relatively new food court process at Costco (where you order ahead from the kiosk) is an absolute disaster. Talk about trying to fix something that wasn't broken. I just about murdered someone yesterday trying to pick up a $10 pizza that I had ordered an hour before. :wall:

Really? I’ve always liked it. I usually do the Costco run by myself I’ll pick up a pepperoni slice and a drink for a cheap dinner. I can enter it way quicker than most so I jump ahead of the families and well people who have trouble with stuff like that. Wait a few minutes and listen for my number and I’m gone.

Yeah - I think kiosk is great. There are times that I’ve been there where line to order at the cashier is about 10 customers deep, while kiosk is open. Get my food before I probably would have even made it through the line to place order.

Never once ordered food from a person/cashier. Didn't really know that was a thing; 100% kiosk.

Live in town about 30 miles out of DFW. Moved here in 2012. Oldest son started dating a girl that winter who he dated all through high school.

From our house to "town" we had to drive through this older neighborhood. There was one house that was always decorated for EVERY holiday, and when I say decorated, I mean DECORATED.

Turns out this was his girlfriends house............and the house was DECORATED inside and out.

One day I finally asked the mom where she keeps all her decorations.........she said "I've got 10 small storage units" about a mile away.

Seems that on holiday change off her 4 kids would take their trucks and move stuff back and forth.

They lived in a very nice house in a nice area. One day I was told what the dad did for a living.....he was a district manager at Walmart, so he had plenty of access to decorations every year.

I do notice now that all the kids are grown or off to college, she does not do EVERY holiday, and the ones that she does are not as elaborate.

Same. Didn't even know it was an option to order from a person
Interesting. The locations where I'm at (greater LA area) didn't have the kiosks until the last year (maybe less). Prior to that, there was no other option than to stand in line and order from a window. Same thing when I lived in Olympia, WA (6-7 years ago), and the Bay area before that. No kiosks.

Edit: You could call and order ahead for whole pizzas, etc., but that was really the only other option than to stand in line.

Well, I think that explains it. On Wednesday, I ran to Costco to pick up a few things, figuring I'd be in the store for 20-30 minutes. Decided to order a pizza on my way in (using the kiosk), thinking it would be ready (or probably past ready) by the time I came out. Thirty minutes later, I'm standing in line at the side window that is specifically for whole pizza orders. First 10 minutes, nothing. Nobody coming to the window (from the inside), nobody getting pizzas, etc. There are probably 6-7 people in front of me in line, and I'm noticing that the 3-4 people working inside seem overwhelmed. Now, granted, we are in the middle of a natural disaster of sorts in that there are wildfires 20 minutes away, and I hear someone inside mention that half of their staff had left to go pick up kids from school (schools were closing due to smoke/poor air condition). But, for the most part, Costco appeared to be running like normal (for this location, anyway).

Anyway, eventually, they start handing out pizzas, one or two at a time. But, it appears to be basically first come, first served. No numbers being called whatsoever. After 20 minutes in line, two people have gotten pizzas, and I'm still 2-3 people from the front of the line. Then, I notice some guy saying "Excuse me" and walking to the front of the line, and they hand him a pizza. A few minutes later, they call a name and somebody (not in line) comes and grabs theirs.

Long story short.... From the time I ordered, until pizza in hand, was about 75 minutes. I asked one of the workers if the number on my receipt had any relevance in terms of what order pizzas are handed out, and she simply shook her head no. So, yeah, maybe this location has simply adopted their own "process" that's different than others. I would think that, by ordering ahead from a kiosk, the idea would be that they call your number. Otherwise, why not just stick with the old process, which was stand in line to order and it's ready in 10-15 minutes (or call ahead by phone, which worked great). Heck, they even used to allow you to just order from the checkout line in the store, and then pick it up a few minutes later on the way to your car. Speaking phone orders, the people who jumped the line (I can only assume) must have been phone orders, since the workers were calling their name, etc. So, that part of the process seems to be OK, although I imagine those people were waiting longer than expected as well.

What I don't get is why the store manager leaves the foot court people out on an island, so to speak. This was not the first time that this location has been severely behind/overwhelmed, from what I've observed. Meanwhile, there's 2-3 people at every checkout lane inside, and another 10 employees wandering/standing around the front of the store. Why not move a couple of people to the food court, even for just an hour (while apparently half of the food workers have abandoned ship to go get their kids). I can only chalk it all up to the fact that we're talking about Oxnard, CA.

The first time I went to order something after the kiosks had been added (about a year ago), I didn't even notice them. I just went to the window (after waiting in line for maybe 5 minutes) and tried to order. They told me I could only order from the kiosk and couldn't come to the window without a receipt. No idea if that is correct/standard protocol or not, but based on what I'm hearing, it's just another example of how this location is apparently making their own rules. 👎

Last comment on Costco pizza. It's a great deal for the price, but it's not worth waiting an hour for. And, I miss the days when they had more than just pepperoni or cheese... The combo pizza was pretty good, and they were even willing to make custom orders (we used to order sausage/pepp regularly).
