Could Big X football get much worse? (1 Viewer)

What a pathetic Bowl display. Michigan St.'s big win may obscure it for a bit, but what a terrible year they had. They only qualify seven teams for Bowls and go 2-5. Their new additions next year went 0-2, so they would not help. Thank God we did not have to see another tOSU team get blownout in a NC game.

Personally, I don't cheer for a conference. I root for Michigan, which means I want MSU and OSU to lose, and at best, I'm indifferent to the rest of the conference. To me, it's like cheering on the AL Central or the NFC North, my favorite team's biggest rivals are in their conference/division, and why would I want them to succeed?

They won a BCS game and had a good chance to win another at the end of the game. They beat 1 SEC school and played right with another. Most of the teams player higher ranked schools, so yes, the record is not great but the conference didn't lay the stinker that would warrant a thread.

Yet...OSU played a very competitive game down to the wire that was great to watch.

Wisconsin made mistakes but put up a great rushing performance in another down to the wire game against South Carolina. (which is the only game I really cared about)

Nebraska knocks off an SEC school.

And Michigan State wins a BCS game.

Maybe not just look at the result but watch the games next time.

If my math is right the "Big" 10 is now 11-21 in bowl games over the last four years.

Probably time to rethink the conference's spot in the BCS.

C'mon, the B1G isn't good this year, why dispute it? Outside of MSU it is a weak conference this season. Clemson lost by like 100 to FSU on their home field, OSU would've lost by 200 on a neutral field.

Wisconsin accomplished their game plan to a T against SC and still lost, they ran up and down the field, even had a return TD. On the other side of the ball, Shaw did whatever he wanted all game and the Wisconsin DBs had no answer for SC's WRs. SC was the better team.

Is college football really a level playing field between all conferences? Absent a HS draft, I don't think it is.

I am an Iowa Hawkeye fan. LSU was clearly the better team and Iowa lost 21-14. We are what we are. LSU has gotten10 5 stars and 60. 4 stars in the last five classes. Iowa has gotten 14 4 stars and 5 of those left by their 2nd year.

I think the Big Ten has been hurt by routinely getting totems into the BCS. It means a lesser team plays I the higher bowls.

The depth at the SEC schools is definitely better but the first teams are similar. The SEC cuts players and signs 25 each year. This is not right and the Big Ten does not do this. Also the type of student that can get into an SEC school sometimes would not get into a Big Ten school. But this is a different arguement and the bowl record does show the Big Ten is down.

The SEC routinely cheats.

For me, it's Smythe Division or nothing.

I watched all of them and came away very unimpressed. tOSU kept it close but was clearly outplayed by an ACC team. Wisconsin has no defense. The Conference failed to even fill their bowl quota b/c they simply did not have enough decent, not good but decent, teams.

A terrible year, if you watched the games.
