Could Drew Carter supplant K.J. as the #2 WR . (1 Viewer)

Let say Smith misses two more games and in those games Carter is 16 rec 225yds and 2 TDs ( possible )

could he overtake Jhonson's lob when Steve Smith comes back .

Why not? I've been reading good reviews about Carter and Key is nothing more than a possesion receiver. I can see Johnson on 3rd down when you need a solid 7-8 yards but I see no reason that Carolina would not want to put another playmaker on the other side of Smith if Carter can show that he is that playmaker. Also, unless my information is incorrect, Drew is in his third year and is an unrestricted free agent after this year. I'm one that subcribes to the 3rd year WR theory as well as the theory that UFAs play their ### off for that next big fat contract. This could be a good year for Drew, with or withour Smith.

This is the third thread this week asking the exact question and the answer is still no. They have different skill sets. Even if Carter is the better WR (which I believe), he is not that big possession guy many teams like as a 2nd WR. He will make a great slot WR and will either be upstopable when Smith is back or open huge room for KJ to exploit the middle.
