Could Oakland Draft Jemarcus and Calvin? (1 Viewer)

With all the debate around who Oakland should take at #1, it occurred to me that maybe they could make a play for Detroit's #2 pick that everyone seems to think Detroit would part with. Not sure there is anything that would work since Oakland doesn't have another first round pick in this year's draft to offer but maybe if they got creative?

Off the top of my head, maybe Oakland's second and third round picks, next year's first round pick, Randy Moss and a solid LB (Detroit is rumored to want to draft a ILB in Willis) for the #2 pick and McCown (maybe toss in Mike Williams).

Then take Jemarcus and Calvin.

Probably no chance in hell something like this could occur, but if I were Oakland, I would explore this. Jemarcus looks like he could be that franchise QB and we all know Calvin is supposed to be the best player in the draft. So go get both?

Anyone else think there is a (remotely) possible deal here?

Disclaimer: not a Raider's fan but would like to see creative deals...

There's no way. There's very little chance Oakland's #1 next year will be worth more than the pick Detroit will be giving up this year, and that's all it boils down to. Those second and third round picks Detroit would get back wouldn't be worth the risk.

I have serious doubts that Al Davis wants to lay out that kind of cash, either. The Raiders aren't one of the NFL's richer franchises, you can tell because Al is still wearing his clothes from the 70's.

I could see them drafting Russell and then try to move up to NE and take D. Bowe. Yes, I'm an LSU fan, but it would not surprise me to take two good friends in a draft to build a franchise.

Fantasy does NOT = reality. I can safely say NO WAY IN HELL would this happen... price would be too expensive for Oakland. $$ situation would be ridiculous. Many other reasons...

Last years #1 pick Mario Williams signed a six-year, $54 million contract. The deal includes $26.5 million in guarantees and contains another $8.1 million in incentives.

Last years #2 pick Reggie Bush signed a six-year, $52.5 million contract. The deal includes just over $26.3 million guaranteed and contains another $9.5 million in incentives.

together thats 106.5 million dollars with 52.8 million guaranteed at least!

and thats last year... every season those figures tend to go up.

I don't see any team putting that much money into two rookies.

I got that info from www.rotoworld.com

Actually, why stop there. Oakland should trade their 2009 #1, and 2008 #2 and #3, plus Jerry Porter and Lamont Jordan (who they now don't need) to Cleveland for the Browns third overall pick. Then, they draft ADRIAN PETERSON.

Imagine starting the season with Russell behind center, with the option to hand off to Peterson or throw it deep to Johnson.

Sure, they'd have to release everyone else they currently have under contract, but wouldn't that be fun?

I'm thinking this could work.

Now you are just being silly. With the #3 they would definitely take Joe Thomas.Once they worked out the deal for the #4 for their 2010, 2011 1st round picks, they could draft Peterson, then and only then.

Brown snakes but no monkeys.
Wait... oh yeah I got a crap on deck that could choke a donkey... Yep there's a turtle head poking out!!! I'd better go take care of that!!!of course it always sounds better when Mike Myers (Fat *******) says it in that Scottish accent.

:sleep: -> :clap: -> :shock: -> :lmao: -> :D
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I love the "on deck" reference...

Back on topic:

Didn't the Redskins have the #1 & #2 picks overall (they aquired one through a previous trade IIRC) about 6-7 years ago? They took Courtney Brown and LaVar Arrington I think.

I know the cap is a bit different these days but it can't be impossible to sign both the #1 & #2, right?

ETA:

OK, so I got the Brown/Arrington part right, I just forgot that WAS had #2 & #3.

I've included the entire 1st round here to give props to my Rams for TRUNG :bag:

They had 2 and 3. They selected LaVar and Chris Samuels. Peter Warrick was the other consensus top four pick that year. Hey, 1 out of 4 ain't bad, right?

PFT is reporting that Oakland is in fact in negotiations with both JaMarcus Russell and Calvin Johnson!!!!

OH MY!! This... could.... happen!!!!
