They could. They haven't used it much in the past but at 6.5 million, it'd be worth it over losing him. That said i think a deal gets done for around the same as Marion Barber got. He's a vital part of that offense even more than just the pure numbers and i'm sure the giants realize that.
They could, and depending on their cap situation I think they'd be wise to do so. I'm not sure a long term contract to this guy would be a wise decision.
IIRC, Ward was an UFA last offseason. He turned down the Giant's offer, shopped around, found nothing better, then signed a new 1 year contract (which was less than the first one) with the Giants. .I think Ward would have better offers this year.
I think if they do it will be because they want to try to find a trade partner and not let him go without getting anything in return. If Jacobs really wants to cash in, I think it will be with another team. The Giants will be solid at RB with a corps of Ward, Bradshaw and Ware, all of whom combined will cost less than Jacobs alone. I like Jacobs, but IMO I would rather see the team go with Ward, Bradshaw and Ware at RB and spend Jacob's money elsewhere.

I don't know. I could see an established team signing him. Not really all that different than the Jets bringing in Thomas Jones to start. Ward isn't that old, and he has proven himself.
