Could the Raiders package Moss AND Jordan to GB? (1 Viewer)

1) Moss possibly to Packers has been documented

2) Green Bay is RB thin

3) Oakland is RB heavy (quantity wise anyway) :banned:

Green Bay apparently is reluctant to part with a one or Rodgers for Moss. How about Rodgers and a three or four for Moss and Jordan? Thompson keeps his precious one, Favre plays 10 more years and the Raiders can draft CJ and then 5 offensive linemen...

I'm amazed anyone would want Moss at this point. Sure the talent is still there, but between giving up/playing half-#### and being a general cancer, he's not worth it - certainly not what you'd have to give up to get him at least.

I think it depends on if Green Bay thinks the talent is there or if they feel they are both just a couple of highly overpaid veterans. Frankly, I think they are both highly overpaid veterans and I don't know why Green Bay would want to help relieve the Raiders of all that salary.

I do expect a run on the FA WRs next week since most of the Rb movement is done so Moss may find a new team in the next week or so.

I think that Moss can still put up WR1 numbers but it is a risk. If a team already has someone on their roster who can handle the #1 role if Moss ends up busting, the cost wuld not be so high. GB has that luxury. If Moss pans out, its just a bonus.

Green Bay already has another teams garbage in the form of Koren Robinson. So as do the Milwaukee Bucks in Rueben Patterson, but they have been able to harness players from going off the beaten path sorta like what goes on up in New England. The reason why the Moss deal is not good is because all the fans who have real hatred for what he stands for as a player would feel like a slap in the ace to them the fans for bringing in a guy who has showed up the Team and city of Green Bay and who also has clearly quit on his teams in the past when things don't go accordingly..

Definately a bad trade in my book..

Do we have a link to anyone claiming the Packers are reluctant to part with Rodgers for Moss?

I recalled there was rumor that the Raiders wanted a pick, and the Pack countered with Rodgers. Rumor, nothing more. I am unaware of a rumor stating the Raiders asked for Rodgers.

Why would the Packers do that deal? Or the Raiders?

Moss is a headache, past his prime, and costs $$$$$. I like Jordan, but he is a bit pricey as well, I believe. And the Raiders would be on the hook for the remainder of their signing bonuses.

Not to split hairs, but the Raiders already paid the signing bonuses. That's what makes them signing bonuses. I'm not a capologist, but I believe cap wise, if that's what you're referring to, the Raiders would be on the hook for the remaining portion of their signing bonuses amortized over the remaining years of their contracts. However, I'm not entirely clear on the new collective bargaining agreement so they might be able to divide the cap "penalty" over two years. Not really sure about that through.

Thats what I thought. The signing bonus is prorated over the life of the contract. So say player X is in year 2 of a 4 year deal that pays an 8 mil signing bonus, once that player is traded, the team takes a 6 mil cap hit.

I think if a player is cut after a certain date (June 1st?) the penalty can be split over two years. Not sure if that's true for trades as well. Someone with more knowledge than me would have to answer that.

take a look at Raiders wide receivers Randy Moss and Jerry Porter. Oakland should have about $6 million of cap space if they stand pat with the roster. Moss is scheduled to count for $11.7 million on the 2007 cap. His salary is going to be $9.75 million and if he were traded, the Raiders would get back the $9.75 million of space minus any outstanding potential accelerations. Moss' accelerations are only $2 million, so the net of trading Moss for the Raiders would be a salary-cap gain of $7.7 million.
