Country Music? (1 Viewer)

Not sure we can go with country, more....hillbilie....when talking that really old stuff out of those Appalachian mountans.  A lot of violence in that music, everybody killing someone.

There it's...

Dock Boggs

John Hammond

**** Justice

Clarence Ashley

Charlie Poole

The Carter Family

Then there was Jimmie Rodgers from Mississippi. All of them influensed by blacks heard on chain gangs, working the fields, and race records.

Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys more Western Swing as was Milton Brown.  So just where do we start with Country Music?

Well Jimmie Rodgers is called "The Father of Country Music:" but he really was more of just a white blues singer.

How about Roy Acuff, Ernest Tubb?  Then there was the great Hank Williams.

This is the first million seller in the genre.

That is called country, but...hmmm?

We can be safe with Old Hank, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Marty Robbins, Patsy Montana and Patsy Cline, Waylon and Willie, Townes Van Zandt, Calvin Russell, Steve Earle.

I don't care what genre, this one is hard to beat.

As is this one.

No not a cowboy, have never rode the range tween Tombstone and Dodge, never said......HI HO SILVER.

I just like that stuff, now tomorrow it might be Donnie Elbert, Lee Dorsey, James Carr, Percy Sledge, etc.
