Couple of Big Announcements (1 Viewer)

1. Footballguys.com has acquired FFLSchedules.com

FFLSchedules.com boasts the largest selection of custom fantasy schedules on the internet. With this acquisition, FFLSchedules will migrate it's 157 paid schedules to the Footballguys.com website by July of 2006. This will be free content at Footballguys.com going forward.

You can test drive a sample schedule here

2. Footballguys.com is changing formats for their subscriber contest

We are returning to the survivor-based salary cap contest (that we had 2 years ago) for our subscriber contest. Last year we deviated from this contest (and offered the FFTOC-style contest) mainly because we were overhauling all of our infrastructure (changing to a PHP back end for all content). For those that loved last year's contest, the FFTOC (of which we are now owners) has three exciting levels to play at ($60, $250 and $1,000). Each of these contests offers 100% payout for early bird entries.

Full Details on our subscriber contest will be available on April 24th when we open up the website for the 2006 season.

Glad you like that DM.I personally love the FFTOC format and there are a ton of folks mad that we're changing back but David and I realized there are a lot of people that use our contest as sort of a "set it and forget it" type thing. They subscribe, see the contest as huge perk of subscribing and want to be able to set their roster and then come back in December and collect their cash.

I can see that.

And of course we'll have the FFTOC stuff running wide open in a separate thing so folks can get their fix there.

I'm looking forward to this.

I worked so hard on getting my season's lineups together for the FFTOC format that week 3 I actually thought I had submitted my lineup......but didn't. :wall:

I figured I was done for so I threw in the towel.

You weren't the only one... except my SNAFU was week 4 or 5. :wall: It looks like a great 2006 season here at FBG! I've been an on and off subscriber over the past few years, but I'll be signing up before May 15 to get the early-bird special. Thank you Joe, David, and everyone else that works at at FBG.

Sounds good FootballSoft.com
 J
Was a compliment.Like a Microsoft ... not reinventing the wheel with respect to additional content, but instead acquiring, imroving, and in the end delivering excellent content from a single location.

Some people hate Microsoft, some people love them. I happen to think that its agreat idea as long as the Monopoly is not abused since 99% (more like 89%) of the computer world depends on them. Here's :banned: to FBG doing the same thing.

There you go talking about Mountaineer football again.....
:hot:
:lmao: just joking with you. Pretty impressive display in the Sugar Bowl. I know a couple of folks who follow recruiting more closely than I that were really upset that we didn't try alot harder to get Slaton up to State College. I see why they were so upset now.

Thanks David and Joe!

I also love the survivor contest, but I guess we will all just be fighting for second place since LHucks rules survivors! :P

 I really liked the FFTOC contest. I think it involves more skill and more dedication, which I would think is what FBG is all about.

I will still play, but I guess dumb luck will guide me this year.

Is running both types of free suscriber contests and splitting the prize allocation out of the question?

Thaaat's where you went wrong. Try using some smart luck instead.

Hi Dreamer,That's a good question and we considered it but we needed to allocate all our efforts to one style. So we committed to the Survivor since we were also offering the FFTOC as a separate thing.

I liked the format from last years contest. Last year I was in 400th place out of 8,000 with only one week left in the regular season, and dropped to I think 810th place the last week just missing the playoffs. The sad thing was that I had ALL of my STUDS LEFT!!!!!!!!!! I took a chance the final week and thought that if I could just score something like 90 points the last week, I would be starting:

T Brady, P Manning, D Brees, T Green,

SA, LT2, EDGE, K Jones, R Johnson, M Anderson, W McGhaee, D Davis,

R Moss, C Johnson, M Harrison, T Holt, L Coles, L Fitz, H ward

A Gates, T Gonzo, J Whitten

So is there still going to be a FF schedule site that others will pay for, without knowing you can get it free at FBG, or did you simply take their software/idea?

Is the other site going to have a name change to a footballguy related name?

How are you guys playing this?

The other site will be going out of business. Their url will redirect to our site and all of their content will end up on in Footballguys.com free area.

So it's the same thing as when you guys bought Jesusguys?

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I much prefer this format and didn't play last year for the first time because I just couldn't get excited about that new format.

Love the change to the old format. Now our overall football knowledge and talent evaluation will be tested once again. Personally I feel it's easier to overcome injuries with depth the get dinged for a donut when you player goes down early in a game.

Last year was my first year as a subscriber to FBG so I didn't play the salary cap survivor league from 2 years ago. Could someone post a quick run down on how its played. I understand salary caps and I understand survivor leagues, but how do the 2 come together??

I second that, I'm confused.

Every player has a value, and you have a salary cap. Scoring is survivor style where your best players scores count. Injuries are a killer, and don't draft Charles Rogers.
