Cowboys Meeting with Tank Johnson (1 Viewer)

IRVING – The Cowboys will bring in suspended defensive tackle Tank Johnson for a physical and interview today, multiple sources said.

Johnson had a room registered in his name at an airport hotel Monday night.

Johnson, 25, played with the Chicago Bears for three years before he was released in June after he was pulled over by police in Arizona for driving 40 mph in a 25 mph zone at 3:30 a.m. A police officer thought Johnson was impaired, but a blood test proved otherwise.

Yes. The Dallas D is nowhere near where it needs to be to be a championship caliber team- plus I have Ware and Williams.

Works for me. Good old Tank deserves a second FIFTH chance.
:headbang:
:headbang: As a Bears fan, I'll say three things:

1) He's solid player - if he stays out of trouble he'll be a decent player for the Boys (not great, but solid)

2) I actually think the Bears are better for having to go get Darwin Walker to replace him. (Walker is better than Tank, IMHO)

3) It's better than the Spellman pick up. Tank might wander around - but he'll at least be dressed.

It'll be a zero-liability contract from the Cowboys side... they'll have everything to gain and nothing to lose, really. Tank needs a paycheck and obviously has some ability, but I'm fairly certain the terms of his contract will stipulate that he keep his sh-t together and away from 5-0 or he'll be terminated.

how many games left? He had 6, or 8 to serve? And who's games are they? I mean does he have to count cowboys bye week if they sign him?

He has to miss eight games. So if the Cowboys sign him it will be the ninth game before he could play but since he has not played or practiced in months I doubt he will be ready to contribute for at least a couple of weeks after being signed.

BTW, what position is he going to play ? Most DT do not transition well to NT. Ratcliff is a 3-4 DE that has to play NT for Dallas out of necessity because of Jason Ferguson's injury.

He will play NT. Though Ratcliff hasn't been just god awful at NT.

I don't think I like this....

this is a different type of problem than someone like Owens brings...

Owens runs his mouth...

Tank runs his trigger finger...

BIG difference

We need someone, anyone on that defensive front.. We looked good against geritol man Trent Green but I fear the offense wont be able to prop up the lousy D all year.. I like the signing.
