Cowboys Release TO (1 Viewer)

The TO whining about Romo favoring Witten was bad enough, but even after the fallout from that, his decision to have this stupid reality show where he's followed around all the time... he had to go. Dallas is trying to reduce the circus atmosphere, and that whole reality show thing just wasn't gonna fly.

lol@Tampa Bay

TO, A. Bryant, Winslow........

yeah, good luck finding a starting QB there to put up with that

Didn't T.O. insult Baltimore in some way the last time he was a FA? I wonder if Ray Ray would be in his corner again.

Felix Jones may be the big winner here as the roster stands right now. Roy W. might gain "a little" but over all I think Romo and Witten take a hit.

ya don't suppose Dallas and Arizona had a deal cookin' and just waiting for Warner to sign before Boldin is dealt to Dallas?? San Fran may have looked better to Warner if the Cards dealt Boldin before he signed just out of spite. and more cash too. Warner knows there wouldn't be another run without all the pieces in place in the desert. just thinkin',,,,
I'm thinking something is up here, as well. I am thinking the Cards need RB help and need to get rid of Boldin. The Cowboys now need Boldin and have 3 RBs whom they love. Speculation (wild speculation) would be a Marion Barber type deal, tying together some of the cryptic comments Jerry made earlier today/yesterday.Hmmm....either way, I feel cleansed not having TO on this team any longer. Hated him from Day 1. Cheered when he got his popcorn and TDs, but I still hated that mfdb.
I don't think Boldin is going anywhere. The Cardinals certainly don't "need" to get rid of him considering his small contract that keeps him locked up for the next two years (Not to mention that they have repeatedly stated that they have no intention of doing so). Don't forget that the Cardinals now have what is considered to be a two year window to make another championship run before Kurt Warner likely retires.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Raiders end up with him.
Russell's huge arm would be a nice selling point. That and "return to the Bay Area where you became a star" crap.
I can see it now, Javon Walker Michael Crabtree and Owens as the starting WRs in Oakland.
Fixed.
Davis would probably choose Harvin over Crabtree since he is faster in the 40 ... but he is no Willie Gault ....

McCown is likely to start, and he's thrilled just to have the job. You think he'd be COMPLAINING about that trio???
Yes I know he is. Is he complaining now? Nope. Will he be by week 3-4 when one of those guys isn't seeing the ball enough and they happen to lose a game or 2? You betcha sweet buns. By week 16, he may give up on the NFL forever if he otherwise would have to cater to those 3 egos.

Wouldn't Boldin just sit, making the Cards effectively pay him for nothing?

roy williams has to get a big bump...

he had some decent seasons in DET, never with a QB as good as romo, or TE as good as witten to draw coverage away...

somewhere above PHI was mentioned as a possible destination, but that is hard to see...

the potential fit in OAK* too obvious to require elaboration...

* does OAK have the cap space?

if TB is thinking about adding jerramy stevens, they probably wouldn't be scared off by TO... they have as much cap space as anybody, probably, even after the ward signing... they have sort of been all dressed up with nowhere to go...

I am fairly confident that Minnesota will not be going after him. Vikings have been avoiding players with charater issues ever since the love boat incident. I believe they broke their own rule once with Koren Robinson and then payed the price.

Roy was supposed to get a big bump when he was drafted. Then he was supposed to get a big bump going into his 3rd year. Then he was supposed to get a big bump when Calvin joined Detroit as he'd see less coverage. Then he was supposed to get a big bump when joining Dallas bc of Romo and TO on the other sideNow he's supposed to get a big bump bc TO is gone and he's now the #1 despite having 1 good year out of 5.I'll pass.

He could. But last fall when he promised that he wouldn't resign with the Cardinals he said he would play out the remainder of his contract. There is always a chance that he could change his mind, but I wouldn't expect him to do so.

Don't worry. It's highly unlikely a QB depth chart featuring Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson would appeal to him anyway.

1) was his QB in DET as good as romo2) how was their OL (relative to DAL)3) williams came to DAL in-season... not the case this year4) i was referring to a bump relative to... A- if TO was on the team still AND B - what he did last year (are you suggesting he will do the same or worse WITHOUT TO on the team, &/or compared to last year?* yes, he has disappointed & underwhelmed for much of his career, but he wasn't always positioned to suceed... in 2009, he should be positioned for one of his best seasons ever... if he fails again with so many things stacked in his favor, i will be the first to jump ship, but imo it would be terrible timing to do so now...

How about KC with Bowe, Gonzo and Cassell?
I thought about that one too but can't see it with a pretty young team, new young starting qb and patchwork team with no established leader. or at least a Ray Lewis "shut the !@!# up or I'll rip off your head and crap down the hole" type of leader.ETA:I'm a KC homer and as hungry as we are for wins, not interested at this price. the cure is worse than the disease.

Does he really have a choice? He has worn out his welcome with so many teams that it is comical. That said, his huge ego will not let him not be on the field on Sundays.

wouldn't the Denver fans just have a field day if he went there as a "Patriots West reclamation project" by the new sheriff in town!!?? just to make up for the upcoming suspension of Marshall.

poor Cutler would be in depends and cussin' his mama for ever having him!! and that's before training camp is over!!! LOL

My guess that he will end up playing for the Pats on a one year contract. How does Brady to Moss, Owens and Welker sound to fantasy owners?

i thought roy ran some down right lazy routes last year. Could have been the lack of time with the team, or it could have been that he didnt think he was getting the ball but either way I won't be expecting much from roy this year. I won't be surprised if he has a decent year, but i dont expect it.

Assuming only teams in win-now mode would take a chance, I believe the Jets would benefit from his services the most. Not sure they would be interested, but he'd be a perfect fit, IMO.

I saw a couple of post mention The Vikings or Ravens as potential suitors. I don't see either team being interested. Minnesota head coach Brad Childress was the O-Coordinator in Philly that TO had issues with according to some reports and the Head Coach of Baltimore is the Eagles former Special Teams Coordinator and he was there when the TO fiasco happened.

In all honesty, I don't see too many suitors out there for TO.

:kicksrock: The excuses can only last so long. He's a perfect sell right now.Roy Williams is a bust, and his perceived value will rise from TO getting blown out.SELL.

I think TO wants to win though and I think he's smart enough to know that it won't happen in Oakland. I look for him to go to a playoff team. It would also be a pretty typical Daniel Snyder move to overpay for a big name, so maybe Washington will be a factor.

I agree. it's not like he's 28, or even 30 any more. Somebody will take a chance and it will be deja vu all over again. the guys a great talent but his act has worn thin I think.

You've also got to take the "cancer" aspect that TO brings.Dude has a lot of baggage, the very worst kind, imo.... total selfishness. Not many teams want to bring that noise into the locker room.

Citing "two sources," ESPN's Michael Smith reports that the Cowboys have released Terrell Owens.

If so, they're getting the move out of the way early. Owens' $3.1M roster bonus wasn't due until June. The move results in a small cap hit, but saves Jerry Jones $5.77 million in cash. Owens still has a lot left -- he averaged 18.9 yards per catch and scored five touchdowns in the Cowboys' last eight games. He'll likely draw interest from the Raiders. Teams needy at receiver but not expected to pursue him include Chicago, Philadelphia, and Miami.
O' Hell No :hot:
:kicksrock: I couldn't think of a better way to completely destroy whatever chance that Russell has to become a good NFL quarterback than pairing him up against Terrell Owens.

Three words - New. York. Giants.

1. Plaxico is unlikely to escape legal / league issues.

2. TO will want to play for a contender.

3. TO will now have a chance to "stick it" to both Dallas and Philly twice a year for each.

4. TO goes to an NFC team that is poised for a playoff run.

5. New York City - media capital of the United States and the NFL.

It makes too much sense, and look for Drew Rosenhaus to be talking with the Giants by Friday.

There's a story about a young Native American boy who goes out on a soul quest up a mountain. He climbs to the top and upon arriving at the top he sees a rattlesnake who calls out to him and implores him to take him to the bottom of the mountain so he doesn't freeze.

The boy says no but the snake persists, assuring him he won't bite him. The boy is eventually prevailed upon.

After reaching the bottom with the snake wrapped in his arms he sets it down only to be bitten.

He asks, "Why did you bite me? You swore to me that you wouldn't."

The snake replied, "You knew what I was when you picked me up."

Who wants TO next??? :kicksrock:

I think he ends up in Indy or Minnesota.
Indy doesn't have anywhere near the cap room to sign him.Jacksonville seems like an excellent fit(they've needed a #1 since Jimmy Smith fell off), as does Tennessee(they have a strong locker room)Well I doubt it would happen, I'd love to see Philly bring him back. As much bad blood as their might be, it doesn't take away from the fact that they went to the Super Bowl when he was there.

I think the Plaxico fiasco make TO going there all the more unlikely.
