Cowher in 2009? (1 Viewer)

Steeler homers have probably discussed, but didn't want to wade through one of the mammoth terrible towel threads....

Would he avoid the Bengals out of loyalty, or just because the Bengals are a mess?

Suggested as a Childress replacement in a Vikings thread; sounds logical...

Thoughts?

That was suggested by me.. more of a wishful thinking though.. Not sure if it's reality but would love it as a Vikes fan.. I do think that the owners are willing to fork out the cash & Cowher would be a great fit with our running game & defense..

IIRC - he said when interviewed by Scheffter on NFLN that he won't consider coming back till the 2010 season. So next year would be a long shot. Then again, I'm sure that if the right situation and $$$ presented itself, he'd have to consider it.

Seems happy w/ his CBS job.

There are lots of possibilities, the season just began, but no matter what happens The Chin will not coach the Bungles, Skins, Lions, or Raiders. I cannot imagine he would walk into the front office trainwrecks that those organizations are.

That may be the case....but that check with all those zeroes from Danny boy may be tough to turn down....ask Steve Spurrier.....

I don't see him going to a team in the division. When he "retired" he stated something along the lines that he would always be a Steeler and would never betray that hinting at the fact that he wouldn't go to the Browns which was rumored at the time.

I think he's puttering around to see what happens to Fox in Carolina.

Carolina goes in the tank this year and Fox gets his walking papers, I think that 2010 song will change quickly.

Al gives him $10M a year, lets him hire the personnel man of his choosing, then crawls to a nursing home.

Sorry... my alarm clock just went off.

That's been an active rumor since he retired. He'd be able to stay close to his family. I do like Fox and hope as always that the Panthers do well--but it's nice to (maybe) have a backup plan!

The thought occurred to me that "I'm definitely not interested in 2009" translates to "I expect to get paid if somebody wants me in 2009".

I'm still hoping he goes to Cleveland. The Steeler fan part of me would hate it, but it would be worth it just to watch BGP's head explode.

Snyder tried to get him this year. Word is he only went with Zorn ( low profile coach) so he could move him out if Cowher went back into play next year.

Well he played for and was an assistant coach for Cleveland,so it wouldnt surprise me if he went there at all.I would love to see him coach the Chargers.

If he comes back, it's gotta be the Redskins. Jim Zorn is simply a deer in headlights, and Dan Snyder wants to win too bad to let him stick around another year. He'll drop six million a year plus to get Cowher.

:coffee: Cowher only increases his leverage by making himself unavailable. I don't think you'll hear him say "OK, I'm ready to come back".

What would make the most sense is a glorious return to the Chiefs in 2010. I believe Edwards signed a four year deal, which would be up after 2009.

The Rams could use him!! They need an overhaul of ALL the coaches!! Too much talent on that team for them to look so bad week in and week out!! Cowher would light a fire under some of those players AS#$# and if they didn't play, he'd say bye!! :-)

Uh, Cowher PLAYED for and COACHED the Browns. He has a history in Cleveland. Why would BGP be upset about one of their own coming back home?
Take a looksie at some of the big 2005 / 2006 Steelers threads and you'll get the inside joke here...I think one of the Steelers fans has a quote from BGP in his sig about Cowher being a horrible coach and guaranteeing Cowher would never win a superbowl...

 If the Chiefs put in another good draft and have a top pick in 2010, that job's going to be appealing.

Anyone who watches that super bowl knows the refs tilted the game towards the Steelers. Even John Madden was ready to admit it on the live telecast.

Because John Madden certainly doesn't have any sort of an axe to grind about Pittsburgh or anything.....

As a matter of national security, I would appreciate it if you removed any references to Obama in your sig / avatar before making these kinds of statements as I don't like to see anything that increases the chance of a power-hungry neo-nazi soccer mom one heart attack away from the big red button.
