-- Culpepper Could Miss Entire 2006 Season --

Thu Apr 20, 2006 --from FFMastermind.com

The Pioneer Press reports there is a chance that Dolphins QB Daunte Culpepper's rebuilt knee could keep him out the entire regular season with Miami.
Crazy as it may sound, but if Harrington goes to MIA...he could be the FT starter. I know, but even Gus "bang your head on a wall" Frerotte put decent numbers up for the 'Phins last year. Could this be why it is rumored that Harrington has agreed to a two year contract? Maybe he gets a chance to show his worth in hope for a better chance & contract later. Now for Cpep, all those dynasty owners that have him could be hurting because most will not have as great of a QB in the wings. Could be a loooong season for some...

Thats what everyone was saying last year in Detroit. He had 3 god receivers and a up-and-coming young RB to keep everyone honest. It didn't happen. Instead of bumping up Harrington I'd bump down Chambers.

Which 3 good WRs are you talking about? I see one named Roy Williams. Who are the other two? Is Scotty Vines one of them?

To be fair, the running game was non-existent and the OL was to be desired. Now, I'm not saying it was all that, but it sure helped. Oh, it didn't help that he had to look over your shoulder the whole time when Garcia got healthy. Not for a QB who's confidence is not flying high at least.

where's the story coming from? Daunte? a coach? a trainr? a doc?

or just a regurgitated PFT story?

That whole Detroit team was a mess. Midseason coaching chance, poor work ethic...ugh.

That being said, I don't see Harrington being a preseason favorite to win the MVP either.

Don't print that

) Three Timberwolves players, including Wally Szczerbiak, regularly attended chapel gatherings before Target Center games this season. After Szczerbiak was traded to Boston on Jan. 26, no more Wolves players attended chapel.

) Word in Atlanta is that the Falcons are holding out for a first-round draft pick for backup quarterback Matt Schaub, whom the Vikings would like. It wouldn't be surprising if the Vikings offer one of their second-round picks for Schaub, 24, or offer their first-round pick in the 2007 draft.

) There is a chance that former Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper's rebuilt knee could keep him out the entire regular season with the Miami Dolphins.

Overheard

) Timberwolves coach Dwane Casey, asked how he was doing on the eve of his team's last game of the season: "Not good."
Looks suspicious.

half those wr and rb were hurt, horrible coaching to boot

I have no idea why anyone would be thinking he would play at the beginning of the season given that he tore all 3 ligaments, he's a huge running QB, and it happened halfway through last season. The Dolphins won't and shouldn't rush him back. Maybe, he gets in there for the second half of the season but they got him for the long term. Joey H. or someone else will have to bridge the gap for a year. I'm a little surprised they didn't try to court Kerry Collins to have him cover the time that Culpepper will miss.

Yeah, a Minny paper wouldn't have any interest in posting negative news about CPep.Obviously there's a "chance" that a knee injury would keep him out all season, but he would need to reinjure it and get more surgery.

that's their "rumor mill" type section and they often paste PFT rumors in there. Thank you

At this point, I don't think Collins would do that. He'd probably rather retire then come in for a partial season starter or entrenched behind a real starter. He did that when he first got to OAK and I doubt he'd do it again...at least from what is being said ealier about his state of mind.Again, this is why I think the rumored 2 yr deal in place w/ Joey is understandable and makes sense. Joey probably thinks, I have a chance to be a starter again and show what I can do, thus I'll get a REAL opportunity (and contract) again after. Joey is not all world, but this gives the 'Phins the chance to not rush Cpep back either. Win/win situation...

Aww come on now, everybody was talking like this last summer. Roy is a stud. Charles Rogers was returning from injury and BMW was the "uncoverable" matchup guy. Selective memory down?

PFT>Charley WaltersI don't agree that Walters places PFT rumors in his column. He just flat out makes stuff up and places it in there.

I distinctly remember a post from diesel stating th PFT rumor and then someone also providing a link to that. I've searched but can't find it, sorry. I assure you it happenned once before earlier this offseason though

I'll grant you that he steals rumors without citation on occasion, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if the occasional rumor came from PFT, but I don't think it does PFT justice to say Chuck Walters generally posts PFT rumors in his "don't print that" section; Walters is far less credible and has basically established his sources, to the extent they exist, don't know what they are talking about.
