Crazy Free Agent dollars being spent on Spencer Ware (1 Viewer)

Shrek

Having a great season
I've played for over 25 years, and I seriously can't recall that I've ever seen the FA bucks being slung around like this week for Ware. I've got two leagues where owners blew their entire yearly FA allowance on him. I don't know how it would be a measurable stat, but it's interesting to discuss. Many leagues pay the winner a share of or the entirety of the free agent money pool.

It makes sense, I suppose. It's kind of the perfect storm of FF free agency. Proven back stepping into a sure lead role, with no threat of Hunt coming back this season, and no real threat behind him. Last week of the regular season for 90+ % of leagues, and owners scrambling madly to make the playoffs. A dynamic offense that scores in bunches. Anyone recall someone drumming up this much FA money? It's been a while.

At this point in the season he's easily worth 100% of your remaining budget.

Hell, I think you can make an argument that he would have been worth 100% of your budget in Week 1.

The one that comes to mind was the year ryan grant for hurt in week one and everyone bid 100% on brandon jackson.

Understandable with the playoffs starting and if teams have been holding salary cap but I have a sneaky suspicion that someone low on the depth chart like Darrel Williams will get a carry or two and flash to cloud the situation going forward.

There's like 4 weeks left in the season 3 of which are playoffs. Anybody not spending 100% is an idiot

What’s crazy is the folks who still have 60%+ of their FA bucks left over.
All of this.  It's pretty simple and obvious.  If it were week 3, it might be a little different.

I agree with everyone else here -- you should be using 100% of your FA bucks if you have them.  But I think that your league(s) makes it a different analysis.  If I'm reading your post right, you have a pool of money for FAs and unused money is translated into real money and paid out to winners.  I've never seen a league like that but that would certainly skew the analysis.  If there is no benefit to saving the money or if the only benefit is carrying it over to the next year, you should have unloaded what you had on Ware.  In hindsight, it may not have been a good move but it was the smart move at time.
