Nice advice by Gally.
I also would advocate looking at your list and seeing where the clear breaks are in scoring. If scoring is somewhat continuous, I usually equate 2 pts a game for a tier. So if a tier starts at 200 pts, I would go until I reach 168 points.
Here is an example from my "current" cheatsheet for WRs. (this obviously won't be the final one!) 1/2 PPR, 2 pts bonus per 100 yds rec, 1 pt per 10 yd receiving.
It's a clear break from AJ Green to Jordy. It's not so much from Tier 2 to Tier 3. I don't entirely trust Keenan Allen or DT, I felt that they should be at the top of my Tier 3. Since my Tier 3 is very deep, I probably will divide my 3rd tier into two buckets......consistent WR2-WR3- low upside guys like Landry and Tate, and WR1 upside receivers like DT, Hopkins and Watkins. In Tier 3, I strongly prefer to pick WR1 upside guys over consistent guys if I have the choice. Watkins could win your league for you.....Landry never will (at least not in a 1/2 PPR league).
It's best to have your tier be a list of similar players. Below I have a elite tier of 5, a solid-weak WR1 tier, and a very large WR2-WR3 tier.
