Angelo Crowell To IR After Knee Surgery, From the FBG News Wire

After going on IR, Crowell said Andrews advised a more extensive procedure “that’s going to give me more longevity in the league instead of a quick fix.

“It was not a microfracture where they drill holes, but they just went in there and sanded it down to create that blood flow,” said Crowell, who added he’s ahead of his three-to four-month recovery schedule.

Crowell’s contract expires this year and he is open to re-signing with the Bills. But even though he said Brandon told him the team hasn’t closed the door on that, it’s highly unlikely Crowell will be back.

Once healthy, Crowell is confident he can still be an impact player for some team.

“Once I’m healthy, there is no question in my mind that I can play this game and I can play it at a high level,” he said. “I’ll put my game up against any linebacker in the league. I know that I can produce. It is film that shows I can produce. The main thing teams just want to see is when I’m healthy. I’m feeling good where I’m at. I’ll definitely be back on the field next year.”

Angelo seems confident he'll be a completely healed and good-to-go, but may be playing somewhere else. Will know more once free agency begins in March, really need to see where he'll be playing. Often times knee injuries take two years (from a mental aspect) to get back to the player you were before.

For what it's worth, the IDP Roundtable crew were very high on his chances of being an impact player next year. I'm personally going to see if I can sneak him through with a min salary bid.

I have him as a RFA in a league with a lot of guys available.

obviously, his value depends heavily on where he winds up. but, I don't think anyone would be surprised if he wound up having a pretty significant fantasy impact. he'd be a great fit as a 3-down WLB for someone but he's versatile enough to be attractive to a lot of teams. I'd be very surprised if he winds up back in Buffalo at this point.

as for the knee, hopefully the more extensive surgery and taking the full year off to recover will help him stay healthy next year instead of playing through the injury/pain like he did in 2007.

I dont know how bd he pissed off the Bills, but I read that he was quoted as saying he wanted to stay in Buffalo.

he says he's open to it but I'm not sure how realistic that is after what happened this year.this quote from the Buffalo News article doesn't really sound promising:
