Crucial mid-draft IDP decision! (1 Viewer)

Dynasty League.

Start 1qb 2rb 2wr 1te 1k 2lb 2de 2db 1def flex

Standard scoring

Current Lineup after 6 rounds:

QB: CPalmer

RB: SJax, DD, Deuce Mc

WR: DJax, L Evans

Dilemma:

On my board, i have several quality LBs. I have pick 7.05. Currently we sit at 6.09 and i just took Evans. As you can see I am weak at WR but we only start 2 every week, no flex.

Should I break out the LB pick here or go for WR? Thinking Housh, B Edwards, Coles, Matt Jones?

The LBs available are:

-few older guys like Thomas, Ray Lewis, Donnie Edwards

-several younger guys like Witherspoon,Thurman, A Davis

Have read on this board that taking more than 2-3 D in the top 10 is too many. This is a crazy draft, where already 9 idps (incl. 2 DBs??) have been taken in 6.5 rounds!?

Argh

Just because somebody else has screwed up their draft doesn't mean you have to! Judging by the linebackers you listed as available, it leads me to believe there's already been a pretty significant run on them. If that's the case then you'd be playing into your opponent's hands by taking one now.

Of the guys you listed I like Matt Jones and then Housh. I'd be curious to hear what tight ends are available. It might also help if we knew what your scoring system was.

Never undersetimate the value of taking the BEST PLAYER available in an initial dynasty draft (I'm assuming trading is available). We had one guy wait on QB's (2005 initial) in our league, draft Leftwich but then come back and draft Eli, and Rivers a couple of rounds later. He's now able to address some other needs with depth at QB. Don't get caught up in positional need. Take the best players for at least the first 12 rounds or so.

I would personally would probably not get a defender until about round 10 especially with them flying off the board. My thought for IDPs if I don't get one of the top 5-10 guys that I like early, I am going to be patient and fill out the offense. I suspect in a dynasty you will be able to get 1 or 2 of the veterans you listed along with younger guys who don't have exciting names.

I would get my my TE, at least one more Wr and probably a RB before going after defense. Consider getting a decent back-up for Palmer also. No matter what the Bengals are saying, you don't know how his knee will really respond. If you take care of the offense now, you should be able to spend most of the teens filling out the defense and still get quality players.

so cool off on the LB for now. There does seem to be quite a few there.

Crumpler is the best TE right now. Top 4 are gone. Leery to go TE here with such garbage at WR. Suppose i could go find some older guys (galloway, muhammed, mason, coles etc) later in the draft for that purpose though.

this looks like a startup dynasty and older WRs go way later than they should. I would grab Jones or Hous as well. Once the top 5-8 LB are gone there's really no need to reach as there is very little separation between the #9 and the #20. I'd grab another WR and TE before going IDP. If there is a quality back still there I'd grab him too.
