Culpepper as a Dolphin? (1 Viewer)

Lord of the Rings

Sorry to jump off the current Culpepper trade thread, but I'm just wondering what the opinions are concerning Culpepper if he did end up in Miami.

http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/9138006

Positives:

1. He would be reunited with his old OC Linehan (assuming he doesn't get a head coaching job).

2. He would have a solid running game AND a coach that would try and keep things balanced.

3. He would have C. Chambers, R. McMichael, and M. Booker to throw to.

4. He would have a good defense to keep the Dolphins in the game.

5. He certainly has to be better than G. Frerotte.

6. In Saban's LSU glory days he worked with R. Davey who is similar in build to Culpepper (6-2 245 v. 6-4 260) but nowhere close in talent; ie...CPepp is more mobile, better arm strength, better decision maker...etc. CPepp would make Saban drool.

Negatives:

1. Age? How many years does D. Culpepper have in the tank?

2. Injury? Will he be fully recovered.

3. Would Culpepper be the right kind of mentor for a young QB (Rosenfels, or rookie)

4. Offensive Line? How Minnesota's compared to Miami's?

5. Cost to much in a trade? Would Miami give up a 2nd rounder if that's what it took?

Am I missing something here?

Good idea here and I like it. I seriously doubt the Dolphins could include Ricky to help facilitate the trade with the recent public relations disasters in Minnesota but I'm sure the Dolphins would have the firepower to get a trade done. The question would be the cap hit minnesota would take. If, say the Vikings were to get the Dolphins first Rounder, they might have enough to trade up in a region where they could go for a Leinart to eventually take the place of Brad Johnson.

4. Offensive Line? How Minnesota's compared to Miami's?Minnesota's line was a complete disaster this year so I'd have to go with Miami's. Plus Miami has a premiere O Line coach in Hudson Houck so even if they aren't ubertalented, they can be coached up by one of the games best.

Two words "CAP HIT". Do you know how much money it would cost the Vikings on this seasons cap if they trade Culpepper? It would basicly stop them from doing anything but signing their draft picks and this team needs a lot of help! If the new owner doesn't mind having next season as a throw away year in order to completely rebuild the team, then it could work because they would have a TON of cap room in 2007 (assuming that the NFL PA signs the barginning agreement and their is a cap).
