Culpepper Rehab (1 Viewer)

I read somewhere last week that he was participating in camp and doing what he could, but what are the realistic expectations for his return?

Is he likely to play ahead of let's say Palmer, or will he miss significant time this season.

Thanks

This was the last scene Vikings fans ever saw of Daunte Culpepper wearing a Vikings uniform. How long will it be until we see him in a Dolphins uniform in game action? Maybe sooner than you think.

A week after the Vikings attempted to address their growing need at quarterback in light of the trade that sent Daunte Culpepper to the Dolphins, fans have been somewhat frustrated with how the Vikings have approached the QB position.

You have some who believe the Vikes never should have traded Culpepper. You have others that say he should be gone, but for more than just a second-round pick. There are others who think the Vikings should have packaged draft picks to move up to grab Matt Leinart or Jay Cutler. And still others who think the team reached for Tarvaris Jackson.

With all the second-guessing going on, it may not come as good news that Dr. James Andrews, the renown Alabama surgeon who did Culpepper's knee surgery, has given him an A+ grade on his knee rehabilitation.

Andrews said the progress of healing is ahead of schedule and that Culpepper is doing as well as can be expected six months after surgery.

Head coach Nick Saban said that Culpepper is taking part in just about every aspect of the team's offseason workout program, but declined to speculate when he expects to see Culpepper on the field in game action.

You have to wonder how well that knee will hold up under his 260 pound plus frame. He carrys alot more weight than most QB's and I wonder if that will play a factor at all?

Daunte came to Miami weighing 235 pounds. He lost weight and looks really good.So you can quit ur wondering.

I'm not touching him this year...I wanted to put him in the overrated portion of my critique, but didn't want to get into the whole injury predicter/wannabe doctor debate.

I have been following FF for 10 years now, and I have never...NEVER...NEVER!!!!... heard that a players rehab was behind schedule.

Every single one has been above average.

:goodposting: You just don't know unless you're an MD looking at the guys MRI's and even then you don't know...because the MRI is only part of the story.

The best you've got to work with is historical precedent, and from that perspective it's not looking too good for an opening week start.

Culpepper probably won`t be available until at least week7-10. Plus he was playing so bad last season even before he got hurt. A huge risk.

I can`t see him running like he did before.

This seems to be getting missed...on pace for 15 TDs for the entire year. :X

So Culpepper is only judged by his last 5 games (not for his career). Forget the paradigm shift that happened. Forget the injuries to the o-line, lack of running game, missing a favorite receiver that he had developed timing down with, oh and forget that they (Vikings) had a new offensive coordinator as well. Let's just judge him on the last five games. You guys really miss the point some times--it's like you can't see past the obvious and put very little thought to your points. I think the first year Culpepper be somewhere between 20-24 TDs (not what we're used to from him, but not terrible either). Then as he grows more comfortable with Miami's scheme, he'll probably rebound to about 25-30 TDs for 2-4 seasons. He's accurate, mobile, and athletic enough to still be a top 3 QB (fantasy wise). HTH

I think Kellen Winslow's rehab fell way behind schedule with a staff infection. Terrell Suggs ankle early last year was much slower to rehab than expected. I don't recall the details of Eric Johnson's foot, but I remember it being reported as behind schedule. I'm pretty sure Ray Lewis was expected back at one point last year and never made it. I think Mewelde Moore went into the doghouse because his ankle was slow to heal. Maybe there's extenuating circumstances to all these, but I think rehab is usually on or ahead of schedule, but it's not totally unheard of for one to fall behind.

Rumor has it it may take Daunte a year or so to learn the playbook.

***OFFICIAL MIAMI DOLPHINS PLAYBOOK***1. Hand off to Brown.2. Bombs away to Chambers.3. Throw short to McMichael4. Repeat 1. and 2.Is this really forgotten so easily by LHUCKS and others:2004 MIN 16 379-548-4717-39-11 89-406-2

We're not talking 10 years ago. His arm is fine and Chambers is a pretty decent replacement for Moss. CPep is still a bigtime player, especially for dynasty.

ESPN reported last night on 4 Quarters that Culpepper is WAY AHEAD of schedule and that he will be ready for Training Camp! According to the reporter, Culpepper was doing pretty much everything already except for sharp cutting at this time. The Miami brass like the strength and accuracy of his throws!

Not only that, but he has surprised the Miami brass with his leadership. Apparently he has encouraged WR's, TE's and RB's to come to the practice facility outside of required times for drills, running and catch.

IMHO, this is great news!

I seem to be in the minority here, but I believe that Culpepper returns to the Top 5 in 2006!

I took a big gamble in a salary cap keeper legue and traded Willis McGahee at $49 for DC $20, and Tatum Bell $32. I can't believe guys can dismiss DC because he had a rough stretch of games last year and he blew out his knee. I am putting all my eggs in the DC basket for a return to form by playoff time. I also have Chambers and think DC to Chambers can give me some unbelieveable games. I don't worry about the early part of the season, if you're guys aren't playing great down the strecth it won't matter waht you do weeks 1-8.Thanks for the info.
