Cutler not happy with WR Marshall (1 Viewer)

The 102-catch forearm is healing.

Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall was in Florida during the weekend getting the heavy cast off his surgically repaired right forearm.

"The doctor said it looks good," Marshall said. "All we have to do now is wait for the artery to come around, but everything else is healing well."

Quarterback Jay Cutler last week expressed both support of Marshall and disappointment in the receiver's off-field mishap. Marshall's response?

"I'm fine. I don't want to talk about this situation anymore," Marshall said. "I don't even know all that was said. I just want to get this behind me and get back on the field."

Coming off a breakout season in which his 102 receptions ranked fifth in the NFL, Marshall was on a family vacation in Orlando, Fla., the morning of March 22, when a horseplay wrestling match ended with his arm going through an entertainment system.

Marshall, 24, was immediately whisked to a nearby hospital where he underwent emergency surgery to repair lacerations to an artery, a vein, a nerve, two tendons and three muscles in the forearm and elbow area. Although the cast has been removed, Marshall will remain in a sling for another four weeks, after which he can start rehabilitation.

Marshall's doctor in Florida and the Broncos' medical staff are optimistic Marshall will be ready for the start of training camp in late July. The question then will be how Marshall's arm will function while catching Cutler's high-velocity passes.

"The injury was a little scary, but the good thing about it is I'll be able to fully recover from it," Marshall said. "I'm feeling good."

I felt your rape analogy was a poor one and insulting to rape victims and rapists themselves.
I felt that your assertion that Marshall was responsible for D Will's death was a poor one, and insulting to the Williams family, the Broncos organization, Marshall himself, and anyone else who has been in a bar confrontation where the instigators were exceedingly hard to reason with. You assume knowledge of the unknowable when you say Marshall was the one who escalated the emotions. Isn't it more likely that a guy who would kill someone over champagne getting him wet, is more likely to exacerbate a confrontation?I would also like to add that I am not comparing the situations, I am comparing the thought processes that go along with each situation. When you say Marshall was in an altercation that was a factor in D Will's death, and therefore Marshall's actions make him responsible for D Will's death, that is the same thought process (or logic) that is used when people say, "The attractiveness, clothing wore, and visible lack of protection of a girl jogging are factors in her rape; therefore the girls actions that day make her responsible for her rape." Or, when an Islamic extremists says that the USA's actions defending the state of Israel were a factor in 9/11, and therefore the USA is responsible for bringing the terrorist attacks upon themselves. Although, all of these example have truth to them, we must hold responsible those who commited such heinous acts, not pin blame on factors or people that played a part in what happened. I do not think it is hard at all to see the correlation in the thought processes of the situations.

some of you are missing the point, which is to be expected around here. the immaturity of some of the posters here is almost incomprehendable. Kool Kat (or whoever made the analogy) makes a great point. He wasnt disrespecting rape victims in any way WHATSOEVER. He was saying that the analogy is just as rediculous as the poster who said Marshall was the reason willims is dead. honestly, some of you people shouldnt be allowed to have keyboards.

No big deal. Just need to wait for an Artery to come around?!?!?

John Elway

As usual, Elway was asked about the state of his former NFL team, and his thoughts on Cutler. Elway said he would have handled the problem privately. Marshall suffered a severe arm injury last month, and an exasperated Cutler said Marshall needs to stay out of trouble because "it's always something with him."

"I've tried to settle things in the press, and looking back over the years that's not the right way to do it," Elway said. "Especially with teammates. Those are things you talk to him about."

How's this for Cutler showing leadership WRT BMarshall?

Broncos roomies? Marshall plans to ride out suspension at Cutler's house

Film, tosses on tap during suspension

By Lee Rasizer, Rocky Mountain News (Contact)

Wednesday, August 13, 2008

Brandon Marshall has chosen deluxe accommodations for when he serves his suspension to open the regular season: Chez Jay.

The Broncos receiver, facing a two- to three-game, league- mandated absence in September for violation of the NFL's code of conduct, plans on crashing at the home of quarterback Jay Cutler during his downtime.

"Me and Jay decided I'm going to stay with him," Marshall said after the first of four joint workouts at Dove Valley with the Dallas Cowboys.

"He's got plenty of room," the receiver added with a laugh. "What I'm going to do is take over his basement."

Yet Marshall made it clear that this will be a working vacation upon which he'll embark with Cutler at his side.

"What we're going to do is, I'm going to stay in the game plan. And at night, we're going to throw," Marshall explained. "And after we throw, we'll watch film and he's going to go over the game plan with me as if I was there."

The arrangement is necessary because Marshall is barred from Denver's facilities beginning Aug. 30 through at least Sept. 15, the earliest date that the suspension could end if the receiver follows league guidelines during his downtime. Otherwise, Marshall will be out until Sept. 22.

Cutler confirmed the arrangement, but he declined to speak about it after the afternoon practice.

"Jay's been great," Marshall said of his fall-back plan. "The whole Denver Broncos organization has been great to me.

"All I can do is just show them that I'm here now, and when I get back and be accountable."

And with Marshall scheduled to lose more than $52,000 in base salary during his suspension, it doesn't hurt that the price is right at Chez Jay.

"He better not charge nothing," Marshall said with a smile. "I might charge him."
