Cycling Coast to Coast - Anyone ever done this? (1 Viewer)

On The Rocks

Footballguy
I was chatting with a friend of mine who was telling me that he and his wife have done this Coast to Coast ride on their bikes twice. I was suprised because they don't appear to be your typical fitness types.

Has anyone here done one of these bike tours starting with your rear tire in the Pacific Ocean and ending with your front tire in the Atlantic?

I'm curious if you enjoyed the experience or was it a bit to fast? Too slow? Was the group dynamic you were set up with a good/bad experience?

I don't know the organization my friends went with, but here is a link to a group that puts these trips together:

Does anyone have any recommendations?

TIA

My neighbor and good friend did this a few summers ago. He's a public school teacher, so he took the summer to do it, taking his time to "smell the roses" which he said was his favorite part. He averaged 100-120 miles per day I think (less going through the mountains, more across the middle of the country). He blogged about it on the way, and I can likely link you to it if you want.

He did it solo, but also met up with other bikers along the way and would ride with some for a few days at a time where and there. No real safety issues (but I believe he did carry a pistol with him just in case).

He liked it enough to go from VA up and around the Great Lakes on a tandem with his wife two summers later.
