D. Davis seeks second opinion (1 Viewer)

A second opinion

Running back Domanick Davis, who has been sidelined because of a sore knee, was given permission to leave camp to go to Charlotte, N.C., to visit with his personal physician.

"Our doctors got the results, and it's nothing new, so Domanick will have peace of mind," coach Gary Kubiak said. "He'll be back at camp tomorrow, and we'll see how he feels."

My take: I'll have to lower his ranking into the later teens

Mojor red flag on DD if he is still feeling his knee is a big enough issue to go outside the team's usual orthopedic men. I won't touch him this year....

it's looking more and more like it's a safe bet Dom Davis won't be a reliable fantasy back this year. adjust rankings accordingly

Have to admit, I'm beginning to feel concerned. Of course, with Morency as cheap as they come at handcuff, I know that I really needn't worry at all.

late 2 + 12 locks a top-10 RB. Cheaper than a 4/5 for Foster/DWill, or just wasting a pick in the 2-4 altogether on bad RBs.

He has been on the field, and it sounds like he is just wanting to be sure so he doesn't re-injure himself.

Color me optimistic.

They can't find anything structurally wrong on the MRIs but it doesn't feel right to him and keeps swelling up after activity.

 is right. Davis is becoming a conundrum. We know when he's on the field he's a terrific fantasy producer. But how many games is he going to play and does there become a point when the risk is too great even if the value is terrific (i.e. if he falls into the third round would you pull the trigger on him given the potential value or would you simply ignore him completely given the great risk involved). I really like Dom but it's reaching a point where I don't know if I will touch him unless he represents obscene value. Of course, a lot can still happen between now and Week 1.

I'm just wondering how confident anyone can be that Morency will be the #2 for sure with Antwain Smith and Lundy there. Does anyone think Morency might not be the guy that would replace an injured DD?

he's supposed to be back at practice on Monday. one more round of swelling and i'm bailing....

That's the direction I'm leaning at the present time as well.

I don't have a link, but I distinctly remember a scout in an old ESPN story saying DD's early success was a nice story, but that he would never stay healthy.

I've always thought Davis was an overrated talent. Couple that with his injury concerns, and I'd definitely file him in the "avoid/sell" category for dynasty purposes.

Isn't this old news? There were several threads that have discussed this and the fact that he will be held out of practice until Monday. Although I do agree Dom Davis's situation is very shady especially since he has yet to see contact.

Cleared or not cleared, if he's swelling after practices, he's going to swell after games. Darft at your own risk.
