Im curious what type of personnel may be available that YOU would hope to see take the leads..

Personally Id almost like to see Ditka in as a GM placeholder (sorta in name Only) which could open the door for say Mike Shanahan (who may want more control)

Now I realize Ditka has a cushy day job..

I also still hold out hope that I will see Jon Gruden coach again too (Martz for that matter too)

fwiw, I believe the overall correct answers would be a GM/HC who has previously turned around a broken team..

p.s. If there is already such a post, Id enjoy seeing what selections you favor for the Bears in next yrs draft ie. QB, RB, MLB, DB ?

I was all set to point you to the Bears thread, but then I read your suggestion about Ditka
Ditka is quite the Man..

Hes actually a lot more man than I knew for years..

However, although hes older.. He is Ditka..

I think theres a chance older fans may embrace the idea, along w some hard nosed ball players..

p.s. Im not exactly sure the Bears thread would be the best place to discuss their team. I believe the avg guy who may not who finished worst MN or CHI would probably provide the valued input.. just my :2cents:

The Ditka who once traded an entire draft for a running back in a dress? That Ditka? That's who you'd want in charge of personnel?

One of my fav, if not favorite Football players is Earl Campbell. "Some" believed that draft pick (Ricky) was a pretty close comparison.

Obviously Ditka made his mind up, and went for broke.

Im awful happy for you, if you cannot relate to such a decision in any way, shape, or form..

p.s. I hope your not wishy-washy though too

tbh Im not sure how you took my 1st post..

I admit it may have sounded a bit mean spirited, basically using his brand to sell..

fyi, Ditka was lured by cash in the past too..

Boers and Bernstein starts in about 10 minutes.

You should give them a call. I think they'd be intrigued by your ideas

fwiw I was trying to imply using Ditka as a placard (in name Only GM) How about "Team Advisor" I dunno, but, guys like Shanny or Saban would like alot of control.

Heck its possible Ditka is both aged some and wized up enough to put his foot down on some hair brained idea..

(Personally if I thought Earl was available, Id go for broke)

Don't pay any attention to him. He's an #######

I don't want to shoot holes in your first link (havnt finished nor looked at the 2nd link) But did ya know the previous DC was actually involved in input on the latest HC (who was just fired) Of the three guys interviewed Trestman came in a distant third

fwiw Trestman was also required to keep said DC (who promptly left the Bears organization)

Im implying that hiring said "talent advisor/ consultant" may mean little to nothing. It appears that Chicago Ball is a lot closer to Dallas Ball (just w/o the publicity)

Should the Bears plan to build from scratch starting next Season?

Is this the thread where we can discuss mini-Ditka?
Who would win a fight between mini-Ditka & Limp Ditka?

What about between a hurricane and Jackie Battle?

Would Chuck Norris get a bye? These are the pressing questions for the Bears.

Just posting what a couple writers posted as options. Weren't mine

Eric Decosta could be scary good.. I think it would be close to having New Englands Josh Mcdaniels who can make QBs productive..

I use the word "could" because I don't know who was responsible for several player changes in Baltimore..

Can I throw Singletary into the discussion in this thread?
YES

But, in what direction? Can we appreciate the fact that it may be a hard team to coach in SF TOO MUCH? Would it be a bit much to give Singletary the role of GM (responsible for all hiring/firing.

If as Coach I think providing the GMs name would add more to the post..

I think they were fools to fire Trestmen after just 2 years
Its the division.. Its the expectations.. Its the brand..

Chicago expects a Winner! Win vs. a good opponent Win vs. GB. Win the Div. It has been unacceptable since Lovie left.

A great Coach may have some bad Seasons, but Im not saying the firing of Lovie was all bad ( The Defense was already heading in its current direction to an extent ) But this could also be a result of "good intentions" from the higher chain of command

Consider the situation as if it where TB w/ the 1st overall pick..

Do you also dislike the firing of Emery who hired Trestman?

I hear ya I also am intrigued with the thought of Jim Mora..

Honestly I, might be a bit to forgiving on previous performances..

Mora, would probably fall into a category of discussion/ argument that I wouldn't really be willing to continue/ defend.

I am just saying its stupid to fire a coach after 2 years when he obviously has shown signs of knowing what he is doing. He is/was handcuffed to a head case qb that single handedily cost him games in the final quarter with his decesion making

Trestman isnt a bad coach IMO

The highest paid NFL QB No less..

I can appreciate what your saying. It takes a few broken eggs to make an omelet..

However the new GM would probably (read Hopefully) want to bring in his own hand-picked Coach.

Overall you may be correct on Trestman, but its not something new (some Coachs have been given one Season to show promise)

Honestly, I don't know enough about Trestman. Its possible that he could find work as the WR's Coach, and earn his trust back..

The Bears need to nail the GM hiring (kinda the bottom line) Its only fair that hes given full reign to show his abilities..

Are you a Bears fan?

I can't tell because I wouldn't wish Ditka on my worst enemy.

I sort of hope Rex Ryan ends up there.

I don't think he's a great coach, and is maybe even a worse coach if you go in knowing he'll be saddled with a Jay Cutler. But he'd certainly bring back that larger than life persona, the press conference swagger, and the Defense Uber Alles blue-collar mentality that Bears fans would gobble up eagerly. I think he could settle in there, be a .500 coach with occasional runs at a division crown and occasional entertaining season-long meltdowns, and fans would be content with the theater of it all until he dropped dead on the sidelines from cardiac arrest, SNL style.

This man. Now the OP appears to me as nothing more than a fat guy sitting on his Lazy-Boy recliner in a Bears sweater who waits for me to intelligently respond and goes, "Trick question, Mike Ditka is god."

Is your username spelled correctly? I get the feeling you were trying to spell Dismantle. Or is it some variation of Dis Mah Son?

Bears is the local team..

Ive watched and enjoyed more Packer games than I care to admit..

fwiw the Skins hold a special place in my heart.

Lets not forget, Im almost guaranteed to have a Bears game available to watch! My favorite radio station (the Score 670), pretty much only discuss DaBears..

Im actually into fantasy football a wee bit ( I know very little, so don't ask) but, I enjoy knowing what little there is to learn about most any player.

My better half is a bit of a Vikings fan who has started to enjoy rooting for the Bears.

I did own a pair of Bears sweat pants, but they were barely worn..

Im more apt to purchase a jersey from one of my best Fantasy players.. But I do Own a few HOF shirts listing fav players from the past.

My dream job would be a NFL Coach, but I do not have the time, money, brain juice too accomplish such a feat.

If you believe Im wearing a Bears sweater, that's cool. But they do say Truth is stranger than Fiction too..

p.s. Who you want to be the new Bears GM/ Coach Who ya hope the Bears draft? and/or What do they need the most?

Ditka is a drunk ####### and doesn't really know much about the modern NFL. I'm so glad that public sentiment is turning on Ditka in Chicago, well aside from the old timers who still talk about the '85 bears every day. Funny how he opines about personal responsibility, yet his grown kids continually get let off the hook for countless DUIs. I'm glad I don't live in the West Burbs tbh.

Trolling aside, I think that Rex Ryan would be a good fit with the right GM who can bring in a good offensive mind. I think Rex has enough "derp derp DA BEARS" sensibility for ppl like OP, and with enough coaching ability to fix our defense.

yeah I chose the name thinking along the lines of 1) know when to draft your QB's best WR 2)your RBs replacement etc. thus Dismantling your Team..

I actually havnt played so hott.. I did finally play in the SB this Season but lost!

sry No alias :(

So your saying: Lets get back to having a Defensive minded Head Coach w/ a more Game Manager mentality on Offense.

I personally like an approach which appears to go against the grain ie. If the WinningTeams run 3-4 to stop the pass, then develop a running game.

I sometimes can figure out the ideal situation for a Coach, and Im quite use to seeing the same from some of you! So Im asking Whose the Guy? I havnt a clue (honestly)

I loved Buddy's 46.. But IS Rex the answer? heck I dunno

In another post it was asked if I used another handle. My apology's for the confusion. I had received the msg " two new replys" while typing, and opened an additional window to read.

I am lacking a bit of sleep, but about as functional as I can get..

Never said anything about game manager, I think you have to have a good offense (starts with the elusive franchise QB) to be competitive year in/year out.

I also think you are confusing gameplan for philosophy.

Rex has proven that he can coach players up, his in game coaching leaves a lot to be desired and he's never been able to fix the offense, but I think the Bears have some nice young pieces on defense that he can work with and his personality would be a welcomed change to the past 10+ years.

I think of Rex as a "Pound the Rock" kind of Coach..

Ive also liked Cutler, even up until this yr..

Yes, I question his choices (which is what a HC is usually responsible for)

However, I would like to see what Rex can do in some respects.

But, I believe the only way Rex decides to lean on anything but running it up the gut, is based on a lack of personnel ie. Forte is 29, and possibly not so much a between the tackles kinda RB

p.s. I realize I could be wrong on Forte, but it seems like the yds only come against inferior run defenses

I guess a slight update on my original post would be greatly appreciated..

It would be nice if you also included a response which appears to infer either a "game manager" >> Standard Bears Winning philosophy

OR

A slight lean towards relying on the passing game >> Days of Luckman
