**Dallas at Philadelphia**(-8.5, 48.5) 8:20 NFL Kickoff on NBC (1 Viewer)

It sucks but just a few months ago a soccer player was killed by a lightning strike in Peru. So this is obviously better. They kept playing with the storm coming in and they finally decided to call it for the weather when they saw lightning in the area but as the players were leaving the field, one of them was struck.

agree. my oonly hope is that they do resume play and not stop the game like they did last year

The dude basically fell in front of him when he’s trying to close at max speed.

Get what it looked like. But another terrible call. These need to be reviewable.

You are loud wrong on that one. Even I, this board cro-magnon thinks there is no place for stuff like that.

Stuff like what?

He’s a safety coming to make a play with his shoulder and the guy basically crumbled to the ground as he arrives which is the only reason the contact was in the head/neck area.

Not that it matters but my dad was a D1 safety. I played DB in high school. I’ve made that play. It happens really fast. So that’s my bias.

Agree to disagree. That’s a bad call.
You can call it a bad rule.

Maybe. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Full disclosure, when I played I would have leveled him and slept well that night.

Tonight I say that I was wrong.

This generation and time period could never handle Brian Dawkins.

They couldn’t handle most of the 90s. Heck they couldn’t handle Jordan Rules NBA. I had a young coworker (no longer there) was talking to me about current nba. I told him check out some nba action from late 80s to mid 90s anything with Chi, Knicks, Celtics, pistons, lakers Sonic’s, start of spurs dynasty. He came back to me a few days later saying he wished the nba was still like that. Sent a huge shock to his system.

Uh oh lightning miles away. LIGHTNING!
Literally in the next state over. OMG WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE
Next state is like 4 miles down the road. But yes this is stupid.
Beggin’ your pardon sir, the stadium is exit 17 on I-95.

Blah blah not a straight line, I get it, but come the F on with this.
NJ is less than 4 miles from the stadium, Mr. Delaware-centric.

What a f****** loser way to open the season as a champion. Utter and complete dirtbag move and I really hate him in this moment for it. The team should deactivate him for another game.
Mike floria reported there could be a suspension from the league for it.

the GOAT of nba is in philly

Per scheftar

Michael Jordan was spotted at tonight’s Cowboys-Eagles regular-season opener and he is believed to be there as a guest of Philadelphia QB Jalen Hurts, who is wearing new Air Jordan 11 “Love Hurts” sneakers and who did the MJ shrug after his first touchdown of the game.

That drive up 95 is wild when you first start getting near Philly and there are legit homes like RIGHT ON THE freeway. I always preferred flying into Philly then driving thru DE to visit my folks down on the Eastern Shore.

Speakint of which my folks tell me crab prices are just INSANE right now, is it true?

Grew up watching that age of football, while it was entertaining... I think we can understand why the rules are different.

Also, wouldn't matter if the penalty was reviewable. I don't see how they'd overturn it, based on what the league is trying to accomplish, in terms of player safety. Hah, you cant even slap the QB in the head, as an edge rusher.

By player safety I mean, lawsuit payouts.

I know everyone seems to hate Collinsworth, I do not agree. What I don't understand is his son being on the broadcast, does not seem to offer anything. I feel Rodney is like WTF, why is this silver spoon here.

Won't happen, the defense sucks without him. Who knows what other punishment they might come up with.

1 word and you hit the nail on the head

Money

The NFL doesn’t •really• care. They just don’t want to lose money whether it be lawsuits or the new lady fan that can’t tolerate the violence (or crave it?) like some of us dudes.

He definitely roots against the Eagles at every chance he gets.

Check out the audio when BG strip sacked TB12 in SB52

Whats sad is they did it to themselves and us. They paid doctors to lie and fessed up to it. Its no surprise, the NFL hasnt done much right in decades.

Per Scheftar game could resume by 11:30 per nbcsports Mike Tirico per Scheftar

😂 this would hit harder if I didn’t actually live in Burlington County. The next time a weather pattern comes west from NJ into Philly we’ll call it “Sandy’s Revenge”.

That was a BS call..
Yeah it looked like he tried to hold back.
Nothing he could’ve done there. Refs need to use better judgement there.
Doesn’t matter. If you’re late like that you have to play the ball or pull up. You can’t hit the receiver in the head.
Problem comes when receivers go down to catch the ball, giving defenders no target area at all when they are flying in trying to make a play. It's tough, and they're gonna call that 9 times in 10, but we dont have to like it, and it certainly isnt dirty

LOL Mike Florio “reported his opinion” or does he have a source. This is what he and most guys like him do these days just “Hey this might happen!”

They figured out offense keeps the casual fans interested and boosts revenue. Also, no lawsuits is even better for the bank account.

Kinda what happens when you get anti trust exemptions eh

I'm not staying up for this. Good night all.
I'd understand the disgust if this game weren't a 1 point game. Are you not entertained. 10:49PM and you've had enough, huh?
It’s not a 1 point game
*checks crystal ball* I think even an Eagles fan can see the implication there. Probability says, Dallas is walking away with points (probably a FG).
Eagles have the ball?

Hah, my bad. Forgot about Miles Sanders. I've drank my way thru the intermission.

I remember talking to former players who called this bs by nfl. There was a report where players told defebsive players go for head because I’d rather beable to walk or don’t be afraid to aim high and offering to pay the players fine. Most said if nfl have a dam on player safety, they’d offer better options for retired players in terms of health and invest in better safer equipment but they don’t want to do that. NFL does the bare minimum as for legal purposes they can’t be sued.
