Great news (I think) for Pollard owners by signing Jones? Likely means Zeke won't come back (lots of people speculating he'd return on a friendlier deal), and maybe might shut up those people who still somehow think they're going to draft Bijan.

Pollard
Jones
Davis

Do people still think Pollard is only going to get 15 touches a game? I highly doubt it.

Signed Chuma Edoga for some OL depth.
Apparently played left and right tackle, but has some experience at guard.
We tried to trade for him last year, so there's something to like there.

They may not draft Bijan, heck- it’s likely he won’t get to them.

But- the signing of Ronald Jones doesn’t move the needle in that calculus. He’s strictly a depth signing. Heck, he’s not even a lock to make the team.

Still think it moves it a bit. If he does make the team, then they've got their three backs. At the very least, I think it means they won't be trading up for Bijan or taking an RB in the first few rounds (not like they were a lock to anyways).
If they don't draft a back, I doubt they bring in Zeke now with 3 other RBs under contract.

I took a little bit of a hiatus from the board but proud to say I am back and ecstatic with the moves thus far. Trading for Gilmore and Cooks really opened up the draft for Dallas. I understand some may have wished for D. Hop or Ramsey but giving away nothing for a couple years of veteran talent is better than moving out of the early part of the draft.

We seem to be good at Edge, LB, CB, WR and really just need IOL, DT, RB and have the option of going BPA the remainder of the draft.

Does anyone else think the Cowboys utilize the 26th pick and their 4th to move up to 15-20 range if Bijan is still there? I really like keeping our offensive line at a high caliber and hoping Robinson falls to us versus reaching but I don't think the RB room is complete with Pollard and Rojo back there.

Pollard signed his franchise tag, like a smart guy given this market for RBs. Was this what all that cap space was created for via the Cooks restructure?

No, I think unfortunately the Cowboys have gotten a lot smarter with drafting in recent years and won't give up assets to trade up for a shiny new rb.

Hey, so how does it feel knowing that your franchise is inferior to the Dallas Cowboys franchise in every single way?

Hey man I'm just here to talk football. I don't recall the last time MY franchise got a 1 seed and didn't win a single playoff game. But I definitely know the last 2 times your team did. How does it feel having to defend not only a bad owner/GM but also reason with the fact you have your wagon hitched to a 4th round pick QB who, as you alluded to what would happen to Hurts, Lost all his speed b/c of a compound fracture and fear to run the ball now that also was the first player to lead the league in INTS while also missing 5 games?

How do I feel about the past? Its the past. How do I feel about the future of my team? As long as we have Jalen Hurts + Howie Roseman and you got LOL the Jones and Dak Prescott, I feel great.

Keep investing and overpaying those running backs! Worked out well during the Zeke years!

That bad, huh? Well, Good luck with all that.

Dante Fowler as well
Nice

Bring Hankins back now

Got your wish :headbang:
This is great news imo. And for “about 1.5 mil”.

👍
That does not seem like a lot of money to incentivize him to take the beating required to play the position
Looks like he made 1.325 last year

🤷🏻‍♂️

Top guys are making like 20mil a year. We’re getting what we pay for. I just can’t imagine he will be willing or capable to do what we need for 17+ games.

The more I look at our needs and the draft board. I’m good with a trade down if there are buyers.

Aren’t we picking at like 25 or 26? Trade up all day, imo.

If it were up to me I would trade all my picks starting with the 5th round to move up. Every single year.

Absolutely pointless to draft these dudes in the 7th round.

You're not moving up in the 1st round using 5th/6th/7th round picks. You'll need to give up 2's and 3's which are extremely valuable.

I said move up, not trade into the first round.

I'm aware. You won't move up in the 1st without using 2nds and 3rds. I could be wrong but I doubt it happens often that 5th-7th rounders get you higher in the 1st.

Dallas's 5th round might be enough to move from 26th to 25th. Dallas's 5/6/7 combined are worth less than 30 points and along with their 1st round pick *might* move them up 2 spots.

@STEADYMOBBIN 22 got reported by an Eagles fan in the Cowboys thread lol

Can’t make this stuff up
I'm just here to talk about football, not fan behavior. Still have not reported a single person in my many years here. I'm not here to talk about who got reported etc either. Seems there are rules to follow and people that don't have consequences. Its the ole "F around and find out" type of experience.

For who???

Maybe I have not been as clear on what I’m trying to convey.

All I’m saying is that I would be actively looking for opportunities to move up by using those late picks to acquire better talent in rounds 1-4.

I know this isn’t what you asked specifically but I’ll also add that I by no means think I can just package the 5/6/7 for a 2.

Can I use my 5/6/7 to get back into the lower fourth round? Cause if so, I would do that every single year.

The thread starter makes a good point in the title. Improve the rush defense and everything else becomes a little easier. Kancey, Bresee, and Smith are being mocked around the area that Dallas is drafting.

I call BS on Terps. He’s the most obnoxious of your fans. I bet he reports everyone since he’s always saying how he doesn’t use the report feature. Super small D energy.

Yep. I think I could make the reporters easily, but I don’t feel like a time out

You can believe whatever you want, that's fine. I actually like arguing with Cowboys fans over football, not fan behavior. Some of the guys on here and I often get you two confused seem obsessed with talking about the latter. In real life, there aren't many Cowboys fans as informed as you guys. In true reality, there are like only 2 of you who regularly talk on here. Why would I want to ruin a good thing like that now? I don't think you guys buy into the media hype fed to you as much as the masses with the silly stuff that they believe like "We might get Stefon Diggs!!" bc his brother photoshopped a picture of him in a Cowboys uniform, ignoring all the "real" consequences a team would have to go through to make that happen. You guys seem a little more tethered to reality. With that said, I do understand 99% of the hatred right now at Eagles/Eagles fans is the fact we are actually successful and your team is sort of stuck in neutral. Trust me as a fan who grew up in the 90's, with 2 cousins and a brother and best friend in high school who WERE ALL Cowboys fans, I know what obnoxiousness looks and feels like, and I promise you, I'm like 5% of what your fanbase was back then. I'm just enjoying the other side of that pendulum now.

🤣

I think it’s the backhanded compliments you make in every post that make you difficult (pointless) to talk to.

Admitting to acting obnoxious because you were scarred thirty years ago is not an excuse.

Joe wants us to move on so let’s just move on. Good luck next season.

Fair enough 🤝

Moving on, a few guys I would "hate" for the Cowboys to draftin round 1, b/c for whatever reason (probably good scouting duh) you guys nail your 1st round picks, and whoever you pick, in my mind, would solidify that they are good players, in no order, and some of these guys are OBVIOUS good players IMO, some not so much. Some are guys I want on the Eagles too. Maybe I'm wrong but I feel the Cowboys draft more for immediate need than the Eagles. And again, often hit on the 1st rounders more than we do. Most of these guys IMO won't make it to 26 though.

DT Kancey - no player is quite like him in this draft. He's a pass rushing machine. His height + weight makes him very small, but also could be a huge advantage if he plays the right way with his hands and is in the right system. I think he would fit in nicely with you guys. Don't see him lasting into the 20s.

CB Witherspoon, Porter, Gonzalez - I think all these guys will be players, depending on the scheme. Would get a year to figure things out and learning from some good CBs in front of him. Feel these guys would be a longshot though, considering the fact he'd probably sit for a year and your top 3 CB's seem locked in. (Is Bland really good? I know he had a lot of INTs). One of these guys might slide to 26, or at least into the high teens. I don't think either are a player the Cowboys would actually trade up for, more like a luxury/BPA if they are there at 26.

RB - Bijan or Gibbs. Frankly these are the top 2 backs, the first being a true generational talent and the latter truly a 4.2/4.3 speed guy. Either of these guys would be devastating in the 1st year with Pollard, but also, I think both are better than Pollard and in the long run I'd prefer you to sign him to an extension than have to deal with these guys for the next 5 years. One of these 2 guys should be there at 26.

OT- Paris Johnson or Skoronski - your success at OL is pretty much 100% in the 1st round. And Tyron got to be gone after this year. Maybe maybe one of these guys make it past 15 or so. Would be a typical Jerry pick if you go O line.

JSN - just would be a nightmare for Eagles fans IMO. You'd have two guys that can move inside/outside the slot and really become a loaded offense. Cooks and Gallup are nice with Lamb as is, but this guy would come in and immediately make this a very dangerous offense.

DE - Will Anderson - long shot the most as he's a lock to be top 5. Would need a big haul to move up into maybe spot 3 to get him. I just don't see it happening, Jerry doesn't make these kind of moves.

DT - Jalen Carter - this would maybe be the most devastating for me personally. He's a wrecker, regardless of off the field and his pro day, 3 years of tape is what it is. Will be a monster for the next 5-8 years IMHO and a type of character concern that usually the Cowboys don't really blink at. Would require a trade up, but not on the level that Anderson does.

All in all not a ton of blue chip guys, but these are the ones in the 1st round I would definitely not like the Cowboys to have on their roster the next 5+ years.

I think almost all of that list will be gone.
I still stand by my opinion, nothing worth moving up for.

Kancey’s tape is really good. Would love if he slid.

This place is yet again a hotbed of discussion. Sigh…
Now you feel my frustration. We only have each other. Let’s make the effort

I like the direction we’re headed. I worry that we’re thin at RB. I would have rather we let Pollard walk and draft a guy or two.

I know next to nothing about the layers in the draft. I only know I want OL/defense exclusively but that’s every draft.

I'm holding out hope for a Bijan slide but absolutely need a RB end of day 2.

I like Zach Charbonet and Tyjae Spears. I love Pollard but I'm hopeful we can move on from him in '24 before we have to relive the Zeke Elliott situation. I loved Zeke and still do but my denial of what he was after signing that contract was me trying to will him into being better.

Keanu Benson - DT
Mazi Smith - DT
Kancey (no chance he falls) - DT
Siaki Ika - DT
Gervon Dexter - DT

Are all viable options day 2.

I don't think we can lose by taking a Guard/Tackle if Bijan is off the board at #26.

That corner out of K State gives me Legion of Boom vibes and would be a decent add. We are in a good spot going into the draft.

Have to agree and say RB is a need, not sure I like a trade up. Probably something in Rounds 1-3.

I’m still for drafting on both lines.

Keep hearing and reading lots of smoke in the Top TE’s and us being interested.
