Dallas D going forward (1 Viewer)

Was going with the DTBC pairing, but had to drop ARI after week 1 (picked up by someone else). Seems DAL and GB pair up nicely for most of the remainder of the season:

WK 5: DAL @ KC

WK 6: GB vs. DET

WK 7: GB @ CLE

WK 8: DAL vs SEA

WK 9: GB @ TB

WK 10: DAL @ GB (see who's playing better at the time)

WK 11: GB vs SF (DAL vs. WAS, but NFC East games always a toss up)

WK 12: DAL vs OAK (GB @ DET not bad either)

Weeks 13-15 are tough, but may be able to plan ahead based on roster.

So, with all this, is DAL viable? Run D is solid; pass D is questionable, but, in their matchups, outside of SEA, would not seem to be as much of an issue.

Dallas' D hasn't been too impressive so far (at least on the scoresheet - I haven't watched them play). Is that due to a poor start, poor coaching, because the offense has sucked thus far, tough matchups?

Are they a viable option vs KC?

They played poorly in weeks 1 and 2. They've played well the last 2 weeks. Getting a few sacks and turnovers. A pick six against Carolina.

One thing that has slowed down the team is that Ware has been dinged all year. He got his bell wrung early in the TB game and wasnt the same thereafter. Then he had a "strained neck" thats been lingering. I havent heard anything about it this week, so maybe its improving.

Last year, it took about half the season before they turned it on. That corresponded with Wade taking over the defense mid-year. They also brought out a lot of blitz packages late last year that were very effective. They played a modified Bears 46 on occasions as well. But so far this year, they've been rather vanilla. I think they want to ensure that people have their assignments right before adding in exotic stuff. But I'd expect them to role more of that out as the year goes on. Especially against NFC East teams.

I expect them to play well against KC. After the bye, however, its anyone's guess. This team is extremely volatile. But there is some definite upside over what they've done so far this year.

5 new players in the defense this year. It takes a while to gel. They are improving overall but from a Fantasy perspective they don't score many defensive TD's or cause turnovers. Their ST's are very pedestrian and they have no one outside of Felix Jones who can score on that front.

They are a gamble, but certainly recognize the match up opportunity you have presented.

If you do it-have a contingency plan.

i like Dallas for this week but beyond that i wouldnt hesitate to cut them for the WW Defense of the Week...
This is my thought as well. I am fine with playing them against weak teams like KC but I would rather have another option as my starting D.
