He used to be on the Dolphins backing up Marino.Who is this Damon Huard? Does he have a real chance to make a fantasy impact or will he just be the guy handing off the ball until Green comes back?
Merriman will have to wait.....Chiefs play in Denver.Did you catch Aaron Brooks Monday night? Multiply that by a factor of at least 2. That is the pummeling Huard will take from Merriman and Co. this weekend. No reason to gather info on him when he most likely will be on IR after this weekend.
Dammit. Ok, Kerry Collins gets crushed this weekend. Hope Huard is still standing when SD rolls into KC so I can rack up another 20+ points out of my D. I knew it was a feast again week 2 but I got the BUM QB's mixed up.Merriman will have to wait.....Chiefs play in Denver.Did you catch Aaron Brooks Monday night? Translation - Please drop someone good for Huard so that I can pickup your mistake.I disagree with some assessments here, for a dynasty league with deep rosters. I think you should grab him. You shouldn't grab him because he is good, because he is not. You should grab him because there are a lot of nervous Chris Simms, Kerry Collins, Aaron Brooks, Brett Farve, Drew Bledsoe, Trent Green, Mark Brunell and Jake Plummer owners out there. In dynasty, the back ups to those guys, with the unlikely possible exception of Romo, are rostered.
So I say, you take Huard, hope he puts up top 20 numbers, and be willing to trade him for any imaginable draft pick.
Edit: I think that if he gets two weeks as a top 15-20 QB, you might get a 4th-6th round rookie pick for him.
Not at all. In my main dynasty league, we have 24 man rosters and it is not IDP. Some guys have a full 24 man roster and certainly shouldn't cut anyone to get Huard. At least half of the teams have at least 1 or 2 players that will be cut again and again. I think that you want to stockpile as many 3rd and 4th round picks as possible. Usually you strike out, but there are Domanick Davis', Anquan Boldin's, Randy McMichael's, Mike Bell's, Wali Lundy's(Who you could have traded for a decent pick before sunday) , Chris Cooley's, etc. there. You want to have several shots there and hope to get lucky.Translation - Please drop someone good for Huard so that I can pickup your mistake.I disagree with some assessments here, for a dynasty league with deep rosters. Who is the genius that keeps bragging up S.Merriman? Granted he looked great! But you or I would have been smart enough to put a TE on the same side as Tony Mandarich!!! I mean Robert Gallery!!! The Raiders are going to make alot of defensive players look great each week. I don't think the rest of the NFL coaches are as clueless as the Raiders staff.rabidfireweasel said:I think his value is determined by the complexion of the league. If there is a legit starter, like Alex Smith, I would get him first. Personally, I would grab Romo and Leinart before Huard. However, there is a good chance they are gone. Many owners, especially "sharks", draft QB's late, even in Dynasty. If there are some teams that are prone to the early season yips and have some combination of Simms, Brunell, Plummer, Bledsoe, Farve, Rivers or Trent Green- Huard could have value.I think the keys with him are:1) you are just cutting a scrub that you really thin is equal to another guy on the waiver wire.2) there are some teams that may have QB need.3) You don't get too greedt. You dump him for almost anything.
Against weak teams he has looked very good. Still just a temporary fill in for Green or platoon against weak teams. His next 2 games are brutal matchup-wise.small dynasty spotlight on him coming this week.short answer: useful in large (16+ team) and start 2 QB leagues for now, otherwise don't waste the roster spot.
Exactly. We will find out if there is any value in him Sunday. I can't help with the "what if" scenerio. If he plays well and somehow KC beats PIT, do we have a potential diamond in the rough? I realize it is more likely a PIT win especially since they are 1-3 and playing at home. This is really the only QB position that is in limbo right now in the league and so atleast worthy of some analysis. No?Against weak teams he has looked very good. I don't care about his fantasy value, he was pretty freaking solid against an elite Denver defense.74% completions, no INTs.Against weak teams he has looked very good. Still just a temporary fill in for Green or platoon against weak teams. His next 2 games are brutal matchup-wise.
