Why is Will Witherspoon ahead of Dan Morgan in most rankings/projections? Is the assumption that Morgan will miss time due to injury? I had him on my team last season, and when healthy, he was extremely productive.

I think the injury thing is exactly why.A. Witherspoon is the WLB monster and will produce well even with Crystal MorganB. WHEN (not if) Morgan does miss time, Witherspoon absolutely exploded.

I knock Morgan down alot due to injury myself. If the guy could stay healthy ala Freddy Taylor then he would get bumped back up into stud status. It is just damned impossible to pick him high based on the injury concern. I would likely take both in around the same area or price.

Thanks guys. The scoring for my league is .5/tackle, .25/assist, 3/sack, 2/int, 2/ff, 2/fr, 6/td, 1/pd.We start 2 dl or lb, 2, db, and 2 d (any position).I currently have Ray Lewis, Urlacher, Sharper, Morgan, Witherspoon, Gibril Wilson, Michael Boulware, and Sean Taylor.I've been offered Madieu Williams for Morgan and Taylor. Should I do this? I think I definitely should, but just want to be sure.If I make the trade I'll pick Thomas Davis, Sean Jones, or Bob Sanders up from the FA pool (there are way too many good players in the FA pool). Which of these players should I pick up? I'm leaning toward Davis. Also, in this league, quite a few decent LB's are still available. They include Cowart, Andra Davis, and Wong. Should I drop Witherspoon or Sharper in favor of one of them. Sharper bothers me for obvious reasons (new team and position).

While I do like Madieu Williams, I don't know if that's an equitable deal for both sides. If you were getting a Polamalu, Reed, Boulware type DB, I could understand. madieu bounced from SS to FS to CB last year for CIN, covering whatever position was hit by injury at the time. Who's to say that doesn't happen again? As a Madieu owner, I hope not, but I digress.I'd ask for a little something in the form of a 2006 draft pick to balance things out.

Honestly, you're right about Sharper & & having 2 CAR LBs out of 5 doesn't trip my trigger. You could easily make that trade, even for just draft picks and pick up the quality players off the FA wire.

god no. Morgan when healthy is a top 5 LB

Taylor is a top 10 DB.
1 Ray Lewis, BAL 2 Donnie Edwards

3 Keith Bulluck

4 Brian Urlacher

5 Jonathan Vilma

I dont see Morgan leaping any of the above guys this year to gain top 5 status. Even if hes in the best shape of his life.

If "best shape of his life" = healthy for 16 games, then Morgan could easily be top 5. He averaged over 6.5 solos in the 12 games he played. That projects to 105 over 16 games. A healthy Morgan is gold. The problem is getting a healthy Morgan.

 I like Vilma as much as the next guy, but Morgan was a better FF producer last year (on a per start basis).

Morgan: 6.5 solos and 1.9 assists per game (covering 12 games). Also had 2 sacks, 2 INTs, and 6 PDs.

Vilma: 5.3 solos and 2.1 assists per game (covering 14 games...excluding Weeks 1 & 2 b/c he didn't start). Also had 2 sacks, 3 INT's, and 5 PDs.

I would not place $$$ on Morgan outscoring Vilma in '05, but I also do not think it's fair to say it's an impossibility.

I am not a big Morgan fan mainly because of the injuries and the fact that it is hard to count on him. While you make a good point WD, I think that with Vilma a little more comfortable in his role this year and playing much more naturally as opposed to thinking through every little thing, his numbers will surely go up.While Morgan has the talent, he doesnt have the body, I dont think there is anyway he ends in the top 5, while I am almost certain Vilma will.

So along with Vilma you think he'll keep pace or beat out the below old foggies?Z Thomas = 85/13 = 6.5 solos 4.6 assists per game + 2 sacks 4 pass pds - maybe?

D Brooks = 109/16 = 6.8 solos 1.7 assists per game + 3 sacks 1 int 3 pds - maybe?

L Fletcher = 145/16 = 8.8 solos 3.1 assists per game + 3.5 sacks and 3 pds - dont think so

I dont think he is a top 5 when healthy. Especially since he has never played 16 games. Top 10, but not top 5.
