Daniel Jeremiah of NFLN does his midseason 2014 draft do-over (1 Viewer)

Vikings the only one to get it right.
Only ones to match there.

Titans did. I didn't like their pick but they did and he has Lewan going early before Greg and Matthews.

Any of the guys like Watkins that he moved up, they gotta get credit for getting it right. It shouldn't be a negative the Bills don't have him in this one.

I think LBers traditionally go too late and his type draft would always hold this value.

Beckham there bothers me.

Since we're mostly talking production and Clowney takes a massive hit....cmon, he sat "forever" before playing his first game. In this rookie WR class, someone else is better today.

There wasn't any discussion that I noticed that discussed the future potential type talk.

I don't get the Carr love. The Jags would be no better with Carr.
The Jags using "too many" rookies this year to do well but at the same time, those same rooks will make them very intriguing for year two and three. Seems like a learn a thing or two, get some lumps type year

From a week ago, DJ did a redraft with Bucky Brooks also doing his in this podcast:

Wow!. Just stumbled upon Daneil Jeremiah's 'Move the Sticks' podcast where he and Bucky Brooks and Charles Davis did a half-season update/review and ranking of how all of the rookies have done complete with top-five drafted rookie lists and top-three free agent rookie lists and they even did a full quarterback review with DJ and Charles Davis.

Waaay too much info to go over but it is excellent and if you followed Move the Sticks during the draft season this kicks butt since its the same crew and they really know their stuff and pack in soo much information.

If you have any interest in how the rookie class has done, check this podcast out. Well worth the listen.

Ep. 9: Midseason rookie review & Brandon MarshallPublished: Oct 29, 2014 at 6:43 PM
Daniel Jeremiah is joined by Bucky Brooks and Charles Davis for a midseason review of the 2014 NFL rookies. Discussions include best and worst quarterbacks, best defensive players and the great group of wide receivers. Then, Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall joins to discuss his journey from the practice squad to being the team's leading tackler
Also here's another mid-season redraft from the same rookie report thread.

This is pretty interesting. SI audibles a 2014 redraft top ten in this podcast. Doug Farrar and Chris Burke took turns redrafting the top-ten of the 2014 NFL draft based on what rookies have done so-far and gave some solid commentary.

If you were re-drafting the top-ten picks of the 2014 NFL draft who would you take?

I thought they did a pretty good job.

http://www.si.com/nfl/2014/10/29/2014-nfl-draft-redo-houston-texans-st-louis-rams

1. Houston Texans - Original pick - DE Jadevion Clowney

Redraft - QB Derek Carr

(Commentary Burke: Think he's beent he best rookie QB and Houston still has that need.)

2. St. Louis Rams - Original Pick - OT Greg Robinson

Redraft - WR Sammy Watkins

(Farrar: Rams haven't had a receiver like this since Greatest Show on Turf. He's made Kyle Orton look respectable.)

3. Jacksonville Jaguars - Original Pick QB Blake Bortles

Redraft - DE Jadevion Clowney

(Burke: Skip quarterback for now even though we haven't seen Clowney much yet. Jags defense has played better and they get to the QB so this is another weapon for Gus Bradley to build around. )

4. Buffalo Bills - Original pick - WR Sammy Watkins

Redraft - LB Khalil Mack

(Farrar: Loves Bills-D. If Bills could do it over again no doubt they would take Khalil Mack. He'd thrive with a good secondary and he can make all plays. Perfect marriage.)

5. Oakland Raiders - Original pick LB Khalil Mack

Redraft - WR Kelvin Benjamin

(Burke: With Mack off board, wait on QB. Need weapons on offense. Go with Benjamin to round out reciver core.)

6. Atlanta Falcons - Original pick OT Jake Mathews

Redraft - LB Anthony Barr

(Farrar: Even with issues on O-Line, wouldn't go offensive line here. Need pass rushers. Can play Von Miller role, pass rusher from outside. Something Falcons hasn't had in a long-long time.)

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - WR Mike Evans

Redraft - QB Teddy Bridgewater

(Burke: Unsettled at QB torn but Josh McCowen and Glennon have struggled so he takes a true franchise QB.)

8. Cleveland Browns - Original pick - CB Justin Gilbert

Redraft - LB C.J. Mosely

(Farrar: Tempted to plug in Bitonio, considers him the best offensive rookie lineman by far. Gives Pettine the rover LB he needs.)

9. Minnesota Vikings - Original pick - LB Anthony Barr

Redraft - OT Greg Robinson

(Burke: Been impressive in spurts at guard. Really good man blocker. Tough pick.)

10. Detroit Lions - Original pick - TE Eric Ebron

Redraft - DT Aarron Donald

(Farrar: Both Suh and Farely are free agents and the Lions won't be able to keep both. Donald would rotate in to have a wrecking crew at DT. He's a beast who can do a lot of things.)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Given overall impact of rookies which team had the best draft to date?

1. Doug Farrar:

Oakland Raiders. They got QB Derek Carr and Khalil Mack and guard Gabe Jackson who has played the second best rookie guard outside of Joel Bitonio. Those first three picks are impact starters on a team that desperately needs them.

2. Chris Burke:

Green Bay. Safety Ha-ha Clinton Dix takes on more and more responsibilities., WR Davonte Adams looks like he will develop into the second WR for them. TE Richard Rodgers is contributing and should improve and fifth round pick Center Corey Linsly has been starting for them and he's playing well.

Also Jackasonville could be good if Bortles pans out. Steal of their draft LB Telvin Smith, great rookie defender. Add him to Lee and Robinson and it could be a good slow cooker draft for them if Bortles pans out.

----------------------------------

Other comments.

- Bortles is a project rather than a plug-and-play quaterback.

- Felt Manziel went where they felt he should have gone since the pre-draft buzz was he could have gone in the top-ten so no problems with where he eventually went off the board. Thinks he can still be a successful quarterback.

- Feel that OG Joel Bitonio has been the best rookie so far but nobody is talking about him because he's a guard.
From the same thread, go to the link to see grades for EVERY NFL team on how their first round rookies have done so-far this year.:

Mid season rookie grades for every club based on production by drafted rookie class up to this point.

Not grades for how the rookie draft classes will project out into the future but just how each team's draft class has done so-far.

Go to the link for the full explanation of the grades and I have no idea why some of the formatting got messed up for a few teams but its readable.

I still don't think Carr is all that great but I do hope he plays well enough to cover the point spread in Denver game.

As Bill Parcells said, "Put away the anointing oil". Carr is not worth a top ten pick in last years draft.
