Darryl Tapp (1 Viewer)

Tenacious D

Similarly build and same questions with size as an everydown end, but now in the starting lineup (or at least looking to see significant snaps over Fisher), he could push double-digit sacks. He disappeared against McKinnie, but when blitzes with Leroy Hill and Julian Peterson are mixed in and if Tubbs can stay healthy to take up some space, Tapp could breakout. I'm liking him a lot in leagues that score sacks big and include forced fumbles.

Being in the northeast, news on the Hawks is hard to come by, as is catching a game on the tube. I've been holding Tapp on my DTS, but it's time to assign a contract. Any more insight here?

I can only concur with TD. Tapp looks very good in pre-season games. He's going to get the lion's share of the snaps. Holmgren has praised him. I would snag if he was available in a dynasty, and I would keep him around in your situation.

if tapp was 6'4" & ran a 4.6, he would might have been a high first round pick (he went in the second, as it was, i think)...

he didn't get as much respect as elite prospects at the position in his class (mario williams, hali, kiwanuka) because of sub-optimal height & speed measurables (this could maybe be said of hali as well)...

paradoxically, though "slow", he is super quick, & had great 40 splits i think in first 10 meters... as good or better than other "elite" prospects...

while somewhat short, he claims to use it as an advantage in gaining leverage... he does have unusually long arms & strength for his size, & coupled with his quickness (& developing repertoire of moves), he can be a handful for OL who write him off as too short & slow...

like TD mentioned, with OL being heavily distracted by peterson & kerney, he could rarely be double teamed...

i like him, too, & expect big things from him soon...

:wall: and a Hokie....

So where would you currently rank him among DLs?

I need to assign him contract years as of today and am a little at a loss.

I do see that Jeff has him a 55th or so for DLs. This would seem to confirm that despite upside he may never be a top DL.

Thoughts?

I also have Moses and Moss on my roster, if you wish to use their value in comparison.

He's in a deep subset of the third tier DLmen for me -- the young guys with DL2 upside. Moss and Moses are there, too. Tapp has a little more value right now because he's won a job and showed flashes against first team talent last year.

#32. My ranking are not conventional.

He was 36 before this latest news of him "starting".

disclaimer- I owned Tapp as a rookie.

This is correct.
